Re: Trim Tabs
I had a 19' Stingray that was almost undrivable in anything but flat water and oscillated(porpoising) at anything other than full trim down. I installed the Nauticus trim tabs and was astounded at the difference they made. Handled rough water much better and the porpoising was eliminated. I have rec...

Re: VP GEN 5 V8-300 Alarms
Update; Hauled her back to the servicing dealer, diagnostics showed water flow is fine, has bad temp sensors on the exhaust risers. Replaced all 4 (2 per side). We'll see if that cures it.

The wildly inaccurate water and air temps
I have a 2017 220s with the standard gauge package (non garmin). Does anyone know where the temp sensors live that sends the values to the indicator? Lake water is usually displayed as ~10 degrees warmer than actual as does the ambient air temp readings. Instead of actual numbers maybe they should j...

Thrilled with my 220s with the 5.3 300 v8. Never a want for power or holeshot. Oh and it sounds beautiful....

Re: Engine Noise Level - Merc Vs VP
I have owned older Mercruisers and now a VP duoprop. It seems like the VP is a little louder as far as exhaust note goes. From what I can tell Merc exhaust exits solely through the prop hub and the VP exits above the props. I like the V8 sound so not an issue. I haven't owned a Bravo drive but the V...

Sounds like the classic wrong prop installed. Yes, it has happened to me not once but twice on brand new boat purchases.

Re: CS23 w/ VP 280 DP - enough power?
We have the 280 and DP drive in our CS23. It is more than enough power for the boat, partly because the CS23 is really not that heavy for its length. The only reason to get the V8, IMHO, is the noise and more relaxed cruising rpm. What do you mean more noise and relaxed cruising rpms? Dave I believ...

Re: 2013 220 350 Mag vs new model 220s
What don't you like about the seating - I'm only aware of the flip seat difference? I forget the years but 2012-2015 sounds right, the 220 model had passenger side seating that seated the passenger backwards. The seating back continued all the way up to the dashboard glove compartment. Great for wa...

Re: CS23 w/ VP 280 DP - enough power?
I would think that it will be fine, especially with the duo prop drive. Coming from years of single prop drives it is like having 4 wheel drive on the water!

VP GEN 5 V8-300 Alarms
Just thought I would post a heads up on this one. After starting my engine from cold start I always let it warm to operating temp (160) before dropping the hammer. Last season near fall, put it to bed time, it started giving me a check engine warning with alarm and going to limp mode. I shut it off,...

Re: R4 Build
Never believe the dealer. The things I have heard them say are ridiculous. The 300 and 350 are the same block and weight is identical. The 350 puts out a bit more torque above 4K RPM's so up to that point their performance should be similar. With that said the R4 is bit heavier than the R3 and beca...

Second jhnmdahl, I like my richter 18 lb. Don't forget the requisite at least 6ft chain between the anchor and the rode.

Re: Pain sucks
Yeah, it's gonna hurt. But..it could be a ya-hoo filter also. Every weekend on the lake for the past two years has been like a July 4th. Everybody with something that floats has been on the water. Maybe this will keep some of 'em home.

If there ever was a time to wear your Personal Floatation Device, I think this would be it. You think he has his engine kill lanyard attached?
