Re: Any info on a replacement shift cable for a 246
I had called wholesale marine thinking they would have length info which was not the case. They did come across as knowledgeable though and gave me instructions on looking for numbers. I wasn't able to find any numbers but lubed the throttle cable with cable-eze after disconnecting both ends. That h...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
So I thought I would provide an update. This whole thing went south, really strange how it all has gone. After being told that the stainless fabricator had already bent the tubing I was then told they were trying to source materials. I eventually was given an exorbitant price for the stainless rail ...

Re: Any info on a replacement shift cable for a 246
So I watched a youtube video and it looks like volvo does not require outdrive removal. it is still not something that I think can be done on the water. I think I will try lubricating the controls and see what that does. It would still be nice if anyone knows the length etc. to order a cable in adva...

Any info on a replacement shift cable for a 246
I have a couple stiff spots in my control but is completely free when in throttle only mode. The boat is a 2001 246 with a Volvo do drive. I plan on inspecting and living the controls this weekend but figure I will likely need to replace the shift cable. I would like to take one up to the lake with ...

Re: New member in oregon
That deck and surrounding forest definitely looks like it will become a happy place! Will the dock be close by? Nothing I like better than getting up early and going to the dock to piddle with the boat, or going for a cruise with my coffee. sorry i didn't respond earlier was just reading the posts ...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
Apparently contemporary is still waiting on the stainless fabricator to finish the rail. I told him I could take care of it but they have bent the tube already and just need to weld on tabs to finish it. What sucks is that I need to make templates for the support brackets to be built from after gett...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
So contemporary fiberglass has a sister company that is a seadek fabricator. Unfortunately he has limited color options and there is 5 to 7 week lead time on the material from reader. They are going to template the platform before shipping so he will be ready when the material arrives. I am going te...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
So I have contemporary fiberglass in Spokane building a platform. I sent pictures and he is closely representing the factory platform. The pictures are the first I have seen, the only change is to radius the inside corners of the grab handle reliefs. He is fabricating a stainless rail to go around t...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
So this is what I have in mind for supports. I think 1/4" stainless would be sufficient for the support brackets. I am thinking the bent over top needs to be full length to help with lateral support. With lower support legs the brackets would be more of a connection to the hull than actual load...

Re: Looking for pics of a 246 with factory extended platform
Wow, It looks like kwilliard's is supported entirely by the perimeter stainless tube as opposed to others I have seen where the stainless tube is simply a rub rail and the support comes from the two brackets beneath.
