Re: Batteries during the Winter

I forgot about the ACR. Our marina keeps the dry storage boats in a building on racks, so no battery chargers. I pull both batteries at the end of the season and give them a charge. My cranking battery was pretty much wasted. I had to connect a car charger/ jump starter to get enough voltage there f...

Re: Batteries during the Winter

I must be missing something. My Mercathode system will kill my battery in a few weeks. Nothing wrong, that's just how it works. It's wired to be one of the two loads that stay powered with the battery switch in off. Removing the batteries for the winter gets me an easy access to top off the cells wi...

Re: Best Anchor?

We're still very pleased with our Lewmar Delta. The 14lb version would not fit the anchor locker of our 22' bow rider. So I bought the 9lb model. With a short length of chain and sufficient scope it has worked very well for us. Technique is key for good anchoring.

Re: How Fast Can You Trailer w/Bimini?

Are there different grades of hardware for a Bimini? Our boat tops out around 53, never once thought about it. I will stow it raised and wrapped in its cover to tow, cover wrapping up the canvas...zippered up tight, I can't imagine what kind of wind speed it would take to damage it.

Re: Shopping list for new boat owner

I keep a NOCO Boost unit on board. Haven't needed it yet but if you ever have to assist someone, that's a very handy unit to have. For cleaning we keep way too many things aboard, but typically use a small scrub brush and a couple microfiber towels the most. Same for tools, I keep too much stuff. Fl...

Re: Cooler

We just move the cooler from inside the boat to the swim platform once we reach our destination. The Yeti and others with rubber feet really stay in place well.

Re: October 2021 Pics...

Beautiful boat, beautiful day, great pics! It's hard to beat a 3/4 ton diesel pickup for towing. I'm sure your 6.2 does a better job than my 5.3, which I find to be perfectly adequate. Yes, I miss my 2003 Ford F250 with the 7.3L diesel...oh well.
Very picturesque scenery!

Re: 220 upgrades

I can certainly endorse JL Audio speakers for replacement of the stock ones. If I can spend some of your money I'd add a JL amplifier also. You won't believe the difference. Sea Dek will definitely help on your swim platform. I haven't spent the money on that...yet. But my wife and I both like it so...

Nice choice! Cobalts seem to get good care from their owners, they really show well!
I've gotten compliments on my 2003 for not looking its age, yours definitely in that category!

Very cool boat! You don't often see too many plate alloy boats.
I always admired the Black lab marine/Pacific Skiff/Pacific Salt boats.
Think it's the same company.

Re: Merc 6.2L ECM Tune - Whipple

Don't bother. If you have a stk engine you are now going to gain much of anything. It takes alot to gain even 1mph. Out of curiosity, if he gained 100 hp, would he need to re-prop in order to reap the benefits of the extra power? Usually hot rodding involves chasing down the next weakest component ...
