That's terrible luck. I've heard good things about Jasper engines, but your string of bad luck makes me wonder how good their quality control really is, or if the installer's not doing the best job getting things set up right.

It's really up to you how much you want to spend on a battery or how often to replace it. I've kept mine for maybe 8 years before replacing, but stagger replacement between two batteries so I get a new one every four years. I can combine batteries with the battery switch to start if it's ever needed...

This was sort of a known issue for a while - the official service documents from Volvo said 8.5 or 9 quarts, but the engine only took 6.5. You're right and the "official" answer is wrong.
