LLB,
I use NOAA weather (hit hourly forecast) and Tahoe Topia for webcams at certain places prior to departure. And my eyes when on the water as weather tends to sneak up on you quickly up there.

You can go to the Cobalt Boats website and download the owners manual from the owner resources section. I have the same year engine set up. Factory at sea level, they come with F6's, as it states in the manual.

Re: First intro pics
Just shooting north of 55 when BAM! everything let loose, the wife screamed and the top was toast. Actually it is the front frame tube that is bent up along with the strap clips broken. Any source to replace just the frame tube? Nice looking vessel! Same thing happened to my bimini as well- strap c...

I have the 5.7 GXI and run F4’s with same the gearing at 6,200 feet, 50 mph @5000rpm. You shouldn’t have a problem getting to WOT with your set up at or near sea level? Which 5.7 do you have based on the configurations above?

Re: 262 Steering Issues
Agree with Cruiser64 above. I had a rack issue on my 226 a couple of years ago. The bolt on one side had loosened up and made the steering difficult- felt like it was binding. The rack I'm referring to is under the steering wheel in the helm.

Re: Kids and Life Jackets
I know each state has thier own rule on lifevest. But I believe any water under federal control like the great lakes fall under coastguard rules. So no matter what state its 13 and under. My youngest was recently so happy, finally to turn 13 and not to wear his- being a strong swimmer and watching ...

Re: Trading boats
Tsouth, I have a 226 as well- very happy with it after 3 years of Lake Tahoe use. Rides well and I like the side walk through. Handles the afternoon chop like a champ- 1' to 2' waves, keep it on top rather than fighting it, as mentioned above. The 5.7GXI pushes her to about 48-49mph at 6200' with F-...

TinCup,
I would also check out Savvy Boater to compare prices. I purchased the Shark Skin Supreme and it fits perfect and works well.

This boat is in a slip where I launch. Don't know much about it, but it could be a good value for someone looking to upgrade. Looks like a Tahoe only boat.

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Welcome to the site! What year is your boat? Can you hear/feel a difference in the idle speed, or are you just relying on the tach? Reason I ask...it's a fairly common issue for a tach on a boat to read high occasionally. Mine does it at the start of nearly every outing, I have to knock on the fron...
