Re: We Sold Our Cobalt
We just did the same thing A7. Well sorta.. We haven’t used our R5 much in the last few years, maybe 20-25hrs per year so we started thinking about selling it. My uncle heard we were thinking about selling it and he showed interest in buying it, he has been looking for the last few years but with th...

Re: Does this trailer seem too small?
It doesn't look a lot different than my current setup. Maybe my trailer frame goes back a bit further, but if it does, it isn't much. I bought this trailer new last year from the selling dealership, and have not had a single problem with mine to date. I have well over 2,000 miles on it in that year...

Re: Problems Loading on Trailer
I had the same issues with my old EZLoader trailer and my R5. I this my trailer was also built for a 242 and they gave it to me with the sale of my R5. My boat would also pull away from the bow stop no matter how I loaded it, I broke a couple straps too. I upgraded to a 3200lb winch with a 10,000lb ...

Re: R5 Swim Step Knob Issue
I'm on my third one in three years. I don't think they break, they seem to unseat or unscrew themselves. Last summer I simply did without and had no issues. Got another one coming from the dealer, who also recommended putting locktite on it. If this one falls off, I'll be out of warranty and will g...

Re: Mantus Anchor for R-5
I have the Fortress FX-7 that Bruce listed. It’s 4lbs and I use 6’ of coated chain and I boat in a river with current and sometimes windy. It will hold my R5 and many times I have at least a Cobalt 240 and sometimes other boats/friends tied to me with just the one anchor. It always holds and I can’t...

Re: Forward guide bunks
NautiWeasel, Thank you for the method. I think I will launch the boat and upon placement back on the trailer I will see how it sits. Great idea about using a jack as well. I will bring one with me to help adjust. Thanks everyone! You don’t need to take the boat off the trailer to adjust the bunks. ...

Re: Cobalt versus Sea Ray
Trolling? I’ve had both, a signature series Sea Ray and now an R5. The R5 is superior in every way! I could have bought a Sea Ray 250 SEL for the same money as I paid for my R5 but I turned it down because the resale on my previous 2 Sea Rays was terrible! I owned my second Sea Ray for 3 years from ...

Re: It's spring and I'm bored
Add a flagpole, I put one on our R5 and I also put one in my Sea Rat. It seem daunting but it really isn’t that bad. I placed mine on the opposite side that Cobalt installs the factory one. I use a 2’x3’ flag so it’s quite big and I didn’t want it flapping in my face when I sit on the rear bench. I ...

Re: R6 bow filler cushion
You mean the new ones don’t come with the starboard side front seat filler? My R5 looks just like the picture, the starboard side middle cushion is hinged so it just folds back into the storage area below the seat.

Re: 2015 220 Mooring cover question
On my R5 it fits REALLY tight around the swim platform! I put the first corner on then move to the second corner and pull so hard I can hardly get my fingers out without pinching them. Then I count about 10-12 ratchets on the straps and it’s good and snug.

Re: Real world towing weight 24SD
What jhnmdahl said would be pretty accurate. I have an R5 that I believe is also listed at 4800lbs dry. Back when I had it on a EZ Loader trailer I had it on a scale with about a half tank of gas and gear but no extra coolers or anything. It weighed 6800lbs.

Re: Loadmaster trailer
Forward bunks definitely make loading easier! But if you somehow miss them with the keel of the boat they will throw the boat WAY off center!

Re: Loadmaster trailer
Not required if under 10K GVWR. It is required on the rear though. Their bunk placement is spot on.. When you do load, make DAMN sure the center bunk grabs the center of the hull as a guide to the bow stop before you proceed to fully load. Go slow. You'll know when it grabs. Loading is currently ou...
