Re: rough ride

Seems like perhaps there's an opportunity to refresh the A series as a deep-vee luxury boat and keep the R series as a shallower-vee watersports boat? What I would love to see is the A29 scrapped and restyled exactly like the A28, but with A29 beam such that it can fit twins. Basically the Cobalt v...

Re: 2013 Cobalt R5 Purchasing Question

I sold my flawless 2014 R5 with 200hrs on a VP380 this summer for 85k without a trailer. Mine was white without a tower.

Re: Top cobalt competition??

I just sold our beloved R5. When we decide to get back into boating I will be looking for another R5 or even a R7 but I will not be purchasing an R6 or R8. I don’t like the lines on them and the build quality. IMO Malibu ruined Cobalt.. I will also be looking at a Formula or possibly Chaparral. I wo...

Let me know how that .38 works for you! A little piece of advice, don’t aim at the floor!

Re: 226 vs newer cobalt

After owning an R5 for nearly 9 years and my uncle owning a 226 for the same time the 226 is a great boat! But it is nothing compared to the R series. I would agree with BBP and either plan on putting 20K into your 226 or buy an R series. Especially if you get into rough water! The R’s have a higher...

Re: June 2023 Pics

You can keep those temps! We just had 102 degrees on Thursday with a dew point at 78 degrees.. that’s hot enough to melt this snowman!!

Good to know about the tongue weight, I would guess I’m at or over 1000lbs too, it will squat my F150 without any air in the air bags.

Re: June 2023 Pics

We got the boat on the new trailer this weekend and took the boat out for a bit. The lake was packed. I still have to dial in the position of the boat. I want to find a scale so I can figure out the tongue weight as the truck squats quite a bit more than with the old trailer. But, the old trailer m...

Re: R3 On Trailer Length?

Excavate down? That’s exactly what I did for a few summers with my R5. I have a gravel floor in my shed so every spring I would just use a skid loader to dig the gravel down 6” in one of the door openings. Then after the boat was put to bed for the winter I would fill the hole back up until spring....

Re: Cobalts BEST Hull

The truth? Chop off a couple feet from each advertised length, because the swim deck is included in the overall hull length. My R7 is a 27 1/2' boat with a 2' swim deck? It's actually a 25 1/2' hull. . I can’t remember the year manufacturers switched this spec but our 2005 263 is a 26’3” hull rough...

Re: Cobalts BEST Hull

OK. I have a 2014 R5 and love the boat, but I just posted a comment on another thread about how it handles the chop at our lake. Boating in Texas has been a real learning experience. The wind is almost constant here, but especially in West Texas where our lake is. So, most days are windy and the ch...

Re: My Brand New CS23 and Intro

Hello Again, So boat was delivered to Sparrow Lake Ontario, and here is the update. Overall amazing boat! I do love it. The power is incredible compared to my previous V6 Chaparral. It's spacious and luxurious. There have been a few growing pains so far. 1) Delivery person neglected to tell me that...

Everybody asked for pics here. I knew what you were getting at LOL. I'm having a hard time getting my trailer plates from Utah transferred to Montana. Bummer can't put it in the water yet without taking it chance of a ticket. Look forward to help from this site. Been lurking a while while I was sho...

2004 Cobalt 226

I am listing this for my uncle. It is ready for a new lake home and needs nothing. He just replaced the impeller and bellows this spring.
