Re: Ballasts filling when docked
There is a valve to close the tank so nothing can get in, I'd say a good idea to keep that close till you get it figured out.

Re: Ballasts filling when docked
That is interesting. I just found out that the ballast pumps have impellers. Cobalt doesn't give any literature on the ballast system except a map showing where the pumps are. I'd definitely call the dealer. Please post when you get it figured out. Others with more knowledge than I may be able to of...

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
Interested in this thread as I am trying to get my wave perfected in my 2021 R8 Surf. What is TPM stand for? Trim? Thanks, in advance. We have found that the lower the TPM the smaller the wave and the higher the TPM the higher the wave. To lengthen the wave we go a little faster. We usually use ful...

Re: R5 Size - Used Market - Misc ?'s
Coming from a 27' tritoon I'm afraid pretty much everything will feel small to you. I'd go as big as you can. I love the layout of the r5/7 I think the R5 would feel bigger than the 232 but will still be pretty small compared to the tri-toon. Those things are like having your living room on the lake.

Re: 2020 R7 Surf badging
At our dealer sometimes they remove the surf badge on the rear to make room for the name of the boat. Particularly if the owner registers the boat with the coast guard, the name has to be so big etc. Maybe that's what happened? If you want the badging you can still purchase them from cobalt through ...

Re: 2018 R7 Surf - electronic issues??
I have a 2019 R7 surf, had a few issues the first season that were covered under warranty. I haven't had any issues the last couple of seasons. The wave that the R7 surf puts out isn't as good as the R8 surf, other than that I like the design of the R7 better. Based on my experience I wouldn't have...

Re: R8 Surf Maintenance
I thought so too. Thought it was odd. Called cobalt and they confirmed the ballast impeller is not covered and also recommended having them replaced yearly. Don’t shoot the messenger. 🤣🤣. Just wondering if there is anything else that needs semi annual/annual maint? Thanks for letting us all know. M...

Re: 2021 CS23 Spider Cracking GelCoat/Fiberglass
I had cracking under the tower on both sides as well as a crack under the rubrail and from one of the places the side of the swim platform attaches on our 2022 CS23. I noticed them all during the first wash and I was told they resulted from not perfectly fastening the hardware and/or drilling holes...

Re: R8 Surf Maintenance
there's a 5 year warranty, it should be covered. I've never heard of switching out an impeller on the ballast pumps. I would think they are similar to the bilge pumps. Unless my dealer is missing something. I'm not mechanical and I don't have time to mess with that stuff so I have my dealer to all t...

Re: 2017 R5 Surf System Light Flashing
I've had the red light a few times but it was while surfing and usually when we come to a stop and I would get a message, surf tab not stowed properly. Cycling the key off and then back on usually does the trick one time we had to turn the battery off and then back on and we haven't had an issue sin...

Re: Fiberglass cracking - BRAND NEW R4 Surf 2023
I would give your dealer/Cobalt a chance. My Cobalt is 9yrs old and I bought it from an individual, so I am far out of warranty and would have no expectation of help form Cobalt - they wouldn't even help when I needed to replace a piece of my carpet. My dealer (I keep the boat at a dealer/marina wh...
