Re: 496 (8.1L) Raw Sea Water Pump Replacement
Follow-up: This is for information only, your experience may vary. I was able to remove the raw water pump by gaining access to the lower front of the motor by going through the storage compartment on the Port side of the boat (2007 Cobalt 252). This seems counterintuitive since the pump is located ...

Re: 496 (8.1L) Raw Sea Water Pump Replacement
Thank You for the link Titan, The pump on the link is similar (Gen 7 with no air lines). Motor pulley set-up is different than mine. Mine has a spring loaded tension pulley that I can rotate clockwise with a 1/2" socket to loosen the belt. On the link, he can remove 2 pulleys with one bracket. ...

Re: 496 (8.1L) Raw Sea Water Pump Replacement
Thanks DE for the reply. It looks like you have a Gen 5/6 pump and mine is a Gen 7 with air-lines (see picture). I think I can get to 5 of the 6 bolts holding the front and back half together. Two of the bolts hold the pump to the bracket, so I may be able to get to the 6th bolt once the pump is apa...

496 (8.1L) Raw Sea Water Pump Replacement
Hello all, I have a 2007 252 with a 496 Mag (non HO). I recently noticed a squeak coming from the motor compartment. I opened the motor hatch and narrowed it down to the sea water pump pulley (bottom starboard side of motor). I then noticed water dripping from behind the pulley, so I assume the sea ...

Trim Switch 2007 252
2007 252 with Merc 496
Does anyone know the part number and/or where to find a replacement power trim switch pictured below?
As a side note, why 4 wires?

Re: 2007 252 Alarm - 2 beeps
Idle Air Control (IAC) on a 2007 252 with Mercruiser 496 (8.1 ltr). Symptoms (in my case) - 2 beep alarm (every 60 sec or so), rough idle, motor shut down when going from cruise speed to neutral (idle). I'll start by saying I'm not a certified mechanic, so below is for reference only. The IAC on my ...

2007 252 Alarm - 2 beeps
2007 252 with Merc 496 Hi all, We have been using our boat a lot this week (family in town). Yesterday the alarm under the helm started to beep twice every minute or so. Also noticed the motor is running rough and sometimes dies when at idle (all new symptoms). I took her back to the marina right aw...

Did you cut all of the long straight edges with scissors? What did you use to cut the holes for the snaps?

Re: 2007 252 Depth Finder, Speedometer
Thanks akorcovelos,
The Raymarine depth finder works when not moving and at wake speed...but it does not work at higher speeds while underway (does not read depth while traveling above wake speed). Is this common, or would a new DF work at any speed?

2007 252 Depth Finder, Speedometer
Hi all, I recently sold a pontoon and purchased a 2007 252 and it has been GREAT! We are exploring new parts of the river we didn't know existed as the big block 496 has much more range. I have a couple of questions about the instruments (dash panel). 1. The stock depth finder was previously replace...

Re: 2007 252 access hatch
Hi Scurlock,
The EVA foam looks great! Do the snaps (used to hold down the carpet) snap-in under the form (i.e. hidden but functional)? Can you provide information where you got the EVA for your 2007 252 (I have the same boat)...

Re: 230 with Heavy Motor Cover
I installed (2) 130 lbs struts to my 2007 252 motor hatch and they work perfectly. They hold the hatch open (when fully open) but hatch is heavy enough to stay closed (when closed). Your mileage may vary, but they worked for me.

Re: 230 with Heavy Motor Cover
I ordered (2) 130# struts (hope I didn't go too heavy). I'll post again once installed (with pics).

Re: 230 with Heavy Motor Cover
Looking to resurrect this year old thread... I have a 2007 252 and my motor hatch struts are shot. The number on the strut is SL29-80 (36" x 80 lbs). I ordered 2 new struts and installed them but they do not hold the hatch open (not even close). I just had my rear pad recovered so I know there'...
