Re: I/O conversion

Rebuild transom. Get bracket. Hang outboard. Rig outboard. Boat. Have fun with the glass work, I suppose? What model boat are you looking at doing it on? Edit to add - I've seen some IO conversion brackets that use the motor mounts and the existing transom hole.. that might make things a little bett...

Re: Winterization steps

1) yes 2) yes 3) ?? Put a reasonable amount of 2 stroke oil into the fuel/water separator and run it until it smokes, then shut it down. May want to warm it up before you do this so you can change the oil afterward if you intend on changing oil in the fall? 4) Don't run it on the muffs with antifree...

Re: Through hull transducer in a '94 hull?????

I've got a 98 272, and upgraded to a 9" Garmin unit on the dash. I just drilled a hole on the starboard side under the swim platform and mounted a transom transducer. It came with a clamshell. The whole area got a bunch of 4200 to seal it up. The depth sounder has been disconnected. At speed th...

:D Didn’t see a thread for this month, so here we are! BBDDCFE5-B07C-49A9-9FE7-F35B3D232CF1.jpeg Pulling her out after an extra long weekend in Lake Hamilton. This trip, unlike the last a couple years, saw us leaving without having gone rock farming with the prop. 438A1F78-DEE8-42C0-8A21-C9D80B19FA9...

Re: Extended Swim Platforms

Sounds a bit like the world's biggest trim tab Gotta agree with you there. My Swimplatforms.com deck is a good 6+ inches off the water and I've been worried about it taking a hit from the underside under power when trying to get out of the hole. The last thing I want is for that thing to rip off un...

Re: 98 cobalt 293 depth finder

The depth finder in my 98 272 is worthless at this point. If you’re relying on it for good info, I’d recommend that you find something else to get you that info.

We lost a bravo 1 a couple years ago.

Now mine is unplugged and the big Garmin display tells me my prop is safe.

Re: Aaaack! My swim platform sunk! 2003 226

If they're anything like my 272, the holes are left for you to figure out. I took a spare piece of material (in my case, fiberglass cut out of what I removed) to provide a backing, then filled the hole in with 4200. I presume the swimplatforms.com unit covers those holes. You can then use 4200 to se...

Re: May 2023 Pictures

The whole process of setting up docks in Minnesota amazes me. My in-laws live on East Lake near Cold Spring and that whole process looks like a recurrent headache. Hopefully your lake doesn't have the vegetation issues theirs does! I can't imagine having to unclog the intake constantly.

Re: Stupid Kill Switch question

Use a key or another small metal object and pry the switch portion out. Put the loop end of the lanyard over (under? around?) the flip switch and push it back such that when you yank on the lanyard, it pulls the switch forward, killing the engine if the lanyard wearer gets yeeted from the driver's s...

Re: Crack in Transom

There's no structural wood in that year boat. MY vote is that if you already own the boat, and like it, spend the money on a good fiberglass guy and run it. I had worse damage from a previous owner repaired in the transom a couple years ago and haven't had any issues since. It spent the entire next ...
