Re: Check engine and audible alarm 300 v8 C-A
Glad the problem was resolved for you. My issue with the MIL (Multifunction Indicator Lamp) was diagnosed via an engine code and led to replacement of two (2) of the O2 sensors, one each side. It was able to be handled under warranty (so far) and I have not seen any additional faults reported to the...

Re: Red “background” on tachometer display Cobalt Glass Cockpit
bruceb58: Thanks very much for the heads up. I assume by “settings” you refer to the menu when you touch the gauge for one second or so. Setting the “rated max” for whatever will push the readout into the red whenever the setting is exceeded. If that is correct, great and thanks. Herb 29A5995C-A300-...

Red “background” on tachometer display Cobalt Glass Cockpit
Greetings: Our 2020 R-5 has the Volvo Penta 300 HP DuoProp and the maximum RPM is in the area of 5900. For the first 2 years (50 hours?) of operations, the background on the tachometer display/gauge would go red when operating at 5000 RPM or above. I notice now with 75 hours in the 3rd year, the tac...

Re: Garmin connectivity to engine data
While I wasn’t able to get “hands on” support from my dealer to resolve this connectivity issue, I was able to benefit from information pulled from this group as well as telephone support from Cobalt as well as a “friendly” service department at a major Cobalt dealer here in the East. The “revelatio...

Re: Garmin connectivity to engine data
Stifflkd: Thanks for the info and procedure. I gave this a whirl yesterday but the gauges / settings did not recover. I have spoken with Cobalt, Volvo Penta and Garmin techs on this issue and everyone seems to be in agreement. The issue is related to the Volvo “updates” that were available and done ...

Stifflkd:
Thanks for weighing in on this.
I am not at all sure as to the process
of “re-initializing each gauge” would be.
Could you give a description of how to proceed?
Herb

Re: Garmin connectivity to engine data
I will be spending some time with the Volvo tech later this week as he replaces the “O2 sensors” which showed a fault on the EVC system. We will also look at this issue with regards to no engine data reported to the Cobalt glass cockpit screen. This is very critical as having to refer to the 2.5” EV...

Re: Garmin connectivity to engine data
Hello: I now have this identical issue of the lack of any engine data displayed on the Cobalt glass cockpit, dual GPSMAP 7607’s. It started with this: We had a fault and engine shutdown on the Volvo EVC with a shift actuator issue. A very good Volvo tech was able to assist us in resolving the shift ...

Re: Check engine and audible alarm 300 v8 C-A
I have a similar issue with the check engine warning light and the single audible beep. Also a VP 300 HP V-8 engine but 2020 vintage. The manual says about the indicators on the side mount throttle/control: "This window has three icons that will light, based on driveline input; Neutral position...

Re: Engine alarm but what?
Thanks all for weighing in on this. I found several interesting references in the Volvo Penta manual: "Faults List NOTICE! In Glass Cockpit Displays, the faults are listed in Warning Manager. For information about how to deal with the fault messages in Warning Manager, see the integrated Glass ...

Engine alarm but what?
Greetings Our 2020 R-5 has the Volvo Penta I/O 300HP engine and all has been running well. Yesterday, upon returning to dock, we got an intermittent alarm and the EVC unit shows a yellow engine light. Looking at the instruments, I saw oil pressure at 46 psi(idle), engine temperature 163 (normal), fu...

Lenco Trim Tabs
Greetings: On our 2020 Cobalt R-5, it is equipped with the Lenco trim tabs. Admittedly, I haven't paid much attention until this year. With the boat on a lift, I realized the port side tab is not deploying at all. I can hear some muffled sound when I try to put the tab down, but nothing beyond. Soun...

Re: Engine over temperature: complete raw water pump disintegration
Thanks for the opportunity to post and I do appreciate the guidance. Is there any possibility that there is air entrapment involved in the steering system or “should” the air purge back to the reservoir on it’s own? You know, I firmly believe this issue related to the original over temperature when ...

Re: Engine over temperature: complete raw water pump disintegration
Wanted to update this. I decided to let a local Volvo service group replace the steering actuator last week. The were able to source the part and I delivered the boat. Two days later, a call saying the boat was ready, tested and good to go. I picked up the boat yesterday, thanked the service manager...

Re: Engine over temperature: complete raw water pump disintegration
The tech has concluded the power steering actuator is bad and needs to be replaced.
They are trying to source one now.
Seems like you were on this from the beginning Big Block Power.
