News that I hate...

I got started here on this forum some months ago when I bought my first Cobalt. I received so much help from all you folks that I can never repay. The bad news is that now the docs say I need a serious operation on my back and about a 8 to 10 month layup for healing. This means it would be another y...

Re: another possibly ridiculous question

Every story has a beginning and an end. I could not get a decent picture of the area under the engine. I did verify that the hose I see in the bottom of the boat that I thought was the intake hose for the bilge pump, is actually a crankcase vent hose. In the very bottom back of the boat there is a d...

Re: another possibly ridiculous question

Holy catfish! A plumbing nightmare. I hope they plan on labelling that stuff so someone can figure out where stuff is coming from and where it is going.

Re: another possibly ridiculous question

It's raining today but when it quits, I'll uncover the boat and try to get a detailed picture of it. The only way I can see how they got that pump where it is , had to be when the engine is out.

Re: another possibly ridiculous question

One would certainly think that but the fact is, it has a suction hose from the pump right back to about the centerline of the engine. Therefor putting the new pump up front and still use the suction hose it amounts to the same thing.

Re: another possibly ridiculous question

Thanks guys . I did look in the area you mention and sure enough, there it is right where BBP says it was. Why in the world would they put it there? A better place would be closer to the front of the engine where you can get to it. I'll fill her up with water and check it out. If it doesn't pump wat...

another possibly ridiculous question

I'm going over every facet of this craft as it is new to me. I am trying to locate the bilge pump. The manual says nothing about it. I think I see the discharge vent on the side but can get to the area to see where the discharge tubing leads to. I can turn it on and hear it is running. I know I can ...

Re: 2001 Cobalt 190

Welcome to the group here tallrobbo. I have a Cobalt 190 .It's a 1996 so the first one they made. I can't see anything on this boat that would be a rot problem. It's pure fiberglass everywhere I can see. I have the 5.0 engine. I can't verify speed because it's a brand new engine with 3 hours so far ...

Re: First Time Cobalt Owner

I think you can have it welded with Stainless Steel. It won't look as nice as original but at least it can be polished to some degree. I'm surprised it isn't made of SS.

Re: First Time Cobalt Owner

You should measure the inside distance before you get a welder to weld that. SS doesn't bend very well :-)

Re: Older 8.1 Volvo oil recommendations

I can't hardly believe what I see for charges on that bill ! I drive a Mercedes and I thought they were high. An oil change with Mobil One which Mercedes always recommends, Oil filter, bleed brakes and change brake fluid, Drain and replace coolant and a 27 point check on other stuff and finally a ca...

Re: Cobalt 222

Good Morning Oceancrosser, It seems such a shame to discard all that talent and expertise at 65. I've known many pilots that are in enviable shape at 65 years old. At least you could still do General Aviation if you wished. In my view that 747 was the very best we ever had. As an Engineer, I have do...

Re: Cobalt 222

First off Rusty, Thanks for joining us. I admire your trips on the DeFever. I lived aboard my Grand Banks 47 footer for years on the west coast. Based in Everett, Washington. I'm also a pilot since 1960 but private pilot. Cessna 310 and my favorite of all time , the Cessna 182 Skylane. My son in law...
