Re: Warranty info
Hard to answer without seeing the fine print. I am speculating that the Premier limited warranty is similar or (or is) the Passport Premier program (which was or still is brunswick product protection corporation). It would cover accessories that your extended engine warranty wouldn't. If it is like ...

Re: Baby/Doggy Gate
Snap off the piece of sea grass that is on the step that separates the swim platform from the cockpit. Take it to an upholstery shop. Ask them to make a tall outdoor foam cushion (try to match the color of the cobalt vinyl) with the same profile and about 12" high (measure from the step to the ...

Had Geico. Price was good the first year and then they jacked up my premium. Called Charter Lakes and they shopped my policy around (they are an independent broker) and got me a rate a little better than the original Geico rate.

Re: Insurance Value
I tried to get the agreed value more than the purchase price once and my request was denied. Insurance company said that this incentivizes insurance fraud because you can get a windfall if your boat is a total loss. But, I didn't press the issue so maybe it can be done. Sounds like what you want is ...

Re: R7 Surf 2018 v Newer & -Value Thread
Agree with the above. $140k is as far as I would go. Otherwise, build a new one and get exactly what you want and 2-3 years extra warranty. Cobalts are great boats but the have become very complicated and have frustrating and expensive problems. Warranty's add a lot of value and smooth over the whol...

I also thought the video could have been better. The Mom doesn't talk? Where is Grandma? Pretty cool that Master Aemon can barefoot though. Needed a sunny day and a whole pack of grandkids and a grandma to really sell the "generation" angle. I would love some comparative and objective mark...

Re: Safe Passenger capacity question
You'll be fine. I have a 2 year old and a 4.5 year old. Get some extra good snacks (candy, fritos, a lunchable) for the kids that they don't have to share to eat while under way and they usually stay seated while you are cruising.

Re: First time buyer: how do I learn about all the Cobalt options?
Welcome! The sports package is not the same as the surf package. The sports package is just a set of flashy colors you can get only on the 10 series models (i.e., the 220S, CS22 and CS23). It's just aesthetics. There isn't even a price difference if you get the sports package. The surf package is mu...

Re: R5 Swim step damage
I got some swim step damage for an unrelated reason on a 2013 swim step. I think the out the door price to replace the whole step from the dealer was around $600-$700. It was about 4 years ago. The service department could give me a price without looking anything up so swim damage is not uncommon. I...

Re: Hello from the Hawkeye State
Welcome Iowariverrat! Great looking Cobalt and GSP! Looks new! I'm hoping to see video of your Cobalt firing up in the water. I'm a fellow Iowan (go Cyclones!) and grew up boating in Pool 12. My Grandma has a cabin on the river there in the Bellevue Slough. I spent endless summer hours boating there...

Re: R7 Trailering question.
Hi Springtown. I'm also in Dallas and bought an R7 from Slalom Shop. Great dealership. Before the R7 I had a 273 and they both weigh about the same weight. In fact, they went on the same trailer. I towed with a half ton pickup truck (2wd) but only locally (less than 15 miles). Not a problem but I wo...

My marina suggests and sells Fresh Cab: https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Cab-Botanical-Control-Repellent/dp/B0119AY5FU/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_86_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=QJ13EAXJNQWSVJE3S7PK I used them for a couple of years before I heard of the dryer sheet method, which I switched to. Both smel...

Re: Ballast Tanks on Surf Models
It is very frustrating when new boats have these issues. It's also frustrating because their boats and you can't just drive them to a dealership and get a loaner while they are fixed IMHO, you can't get a better boat than a Cobalt for the category they compete in, but they are built by humans and ar...

Re: 273 acquisition
Your price is right about where the average asking prices are in the US. The MSRP on these boats were very high so some ask $110-$130k USD and they take a long time to sell and others price them around $70-$80k USD to get them sold fast.

Re: Purchasing Discounts
4th quarter results at Malibu are out today. Compared to the same quarter last year, Cobalt sold 2 less boats. Sales and margin dollars are up though because a more expensive mix of Cobalts were sold. However, in this fiscal year, Cobalt sold more boats than it did the year before. In the next fisca...
