Re: 2020 Cobalt SC25 Bowrider - 100 Hour Review, Observations & Ratings

If you have easy access to your boat, one thing I would strongly recommend is to open up your seats and check the screws and washers that hold the rubber seat bumps on the bottom. More than a few newer Cobalt Owners have commented over cocktails on the sandbar that the washers/screws rusted quickly ...

Re: 2020 Cobalt SC25 Bowrider - 100 Hour Review, Observations & Ratings

Yes Sir. Did a couple of things. 1st - carefully using a slightly larger drill bit I increased the size of the whole. 2nd thing I did was to use a piece of weed-wacker line to push in and twirl it around to help clean out the general area of the hole at both ends. My guess is that shards of fibergla...

Boat Carpet Missing Floor Snap Quick Fix

I borrowed the saggy door hinge trick for a pulled out floor snap and it worked and has stayed put for 2 years. Simply take a wooden Golf T and apply a good dab of white marine grade glue and push into hole where the snap pulled out. Let is sit overnight. I used my side cutter to snap off the top an...

Lighting Detector - Talos

We get a lot of lighting in Florida and it is especially worrisome for obvious reasons. A person (God Rest His Soul) was struck and killed on a beach. The active storm was 20+ miles away. Clear Sky and Lighting struck. I did a lot of research and found Talos, I like it as it is ultra easy to use, ca...

Re: 2020 Cobalt SC25 Bowrider - 100 Hour Review, Observations & Ratings

At the time, on a one year old boat, you betcha a small bag of stainless screws would have made my day. BLACKSTICK https://www.theblackstick.com/ My 25SC came with dealer/factory installed rod holders on the back. I simply slide the black stick into the rod holders and use the screen clips to connec...

SIONYX NIGHTWAVE SIMPLIFIED INSTALLATION

Here is my approach to a clean integrated installation of NightWave that can be accomplished in a couple of hours with minimal experience and tools you already own - difficulty is about the same as installing Smart Doorbell or Thermostat in your home. This post is not discussing the merits of the pr...

Re: PULLING WAKEBOARD TOWER SPEAKER/CAMERA WIRES IN MINUTES VS ALL Day

On my SC25, friend #1 R6 and friend #2 R8, I tried and tried with fishtape and the wires were so dense inside the pipe I was amazed they got them pulled in the first place. I would totally recommend buying a FishTape and give it a shot on your boat first, results seem to vary by make, model and numb...

PULLING WAKEBOARD TOWER SPEAKER/CAMERA WIRES IN MINUTES VS ALL Day

I have helped a few friends install Tower Speakers and MacGyvered a simple and effective methodology to “git-er-done” as Larry would say. Before you start the timer, you will need the following items: * Short piece of tubing, 8” or so - I used refrigerator water tubing * String - waxed is best, doll...

UPDATED 200 HOUR 4-12-2023

212 hours of pure fun on SWFL waters. Other than cost for (2) 100hr maintenance (done on water on lift) - My Cobalt 25SC is still a pure joy to own and operate. I have replace a lot of the Chinese junk/crap stainless screws than snuck into Cobalts manufacturing (it is not their fault). Once replacin...

Re: 2020 Cobalt SC25 Bowrider - 100 Hour Review, Observations & Ratings

I was just looking at 30SC with Twin Yamaha 300's vs R8 with the single 425 myself. . . The Chinese flu had new down the past couple of weeks and with the 40 degree weather in SWFL - I have not been chasing down the dealer on my issues. One thing to mention - after a rain, tilt your rear seat up and...
