Yes getting the hose off the barbs is a bear. Feels like you are going to pull the fuel pump off! What I have since been doing is just taking a utility knife and cutting the fuel line off square at the end of the bars. Then carefully slice it off the length of the barbs. I changed my impeller a few weeks ago and made a video of the process. Maybe it will help someone who is thinking about trying it for the first time.
My boat may be a Regal, but may have a Cobalt in the future!
