Re: 496mag HO “very sluggish power” ????
Bad gas? Years ago I accidentally put some in that had ethanol blended in and my engine ran sluggish like you described. Had to get it pumped dry.

Re: anchor chain
This summer we painted our anchor chain every 5 ft in a red, white, blue pattern for 50 of the 75 or so feet of rode that came with the boat. We used some industrial strength spray paint that hopefully will last 5 years. Yes over time it will wear away but so long as the person running the windlass ...

Re: 2023 Cobalt R6 Surf - Issues
We have a new 2023 R8 Surf and had a list of items that broke or stopped working this summer. I brought the boat to the dealer for the post engine break-in service and they fixed all of them, all covered by warranty. My previous boat was a new Chaparral and it was the same thing.. a bunch of issues ...

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
I’ve been tweaking the surf setting on my R8S all summer and found the best wave is full ballasts, 11.3 mph, and +3 trim angle. You do need to turn off the Trim Assist. Effective for both right and left sides.

Water Pump
Hey everyone, Need help with our water pump. Our new 2023 R8S has the transom shower and electric head. This is our first month having it on the water and we love the boat. Unfortunately we can’t get the shower or toilet to draw water. The valve is open in the bilge and we push the Water Pressure bu...

Re: Freshwater tank additive
I have the Fresco Chil vinyl on the sun pad adjacent to the transom shower. I will have kids on the boat and likely “using” the shower which means it will get sprayed all over. 😀 Per the vinyl manufacturer instructions bleach will degrade the cooling properties of the vinyl which I don’t want. I lik...

Re: Freshwater tank additive
Thanks for the responses. Yes I’m asking about what to put in the tank with each fill.. but needs to be non-bleach.
Great recommendation on the Star Brite product. If you think of it and can report back that would be good.
Thanks

Freshwater tank additive
Our new Cobalt R8S has a transom shower. The shower water draws from a 10 gallon freshwater holding tank. Can someone recommend a tank additive that will keep the water fresh and anti-mildew/growth? Also a consideration is that we have Sof-Trac on the transom swim platform and we have Fresco Chil Vi...

From Chaparral to 2023 R8 Surf
Excited to show the newest member of the family. We did the dealer orientation yesterday on the water and took her out for the first time. Will need a break-in period but my early impression is “wow!” Previously we had a 21ft Chaparral bow rider with 150hp Yamaha OB. Was a fine boat for our needs at...

Re: Zebra mussels
Elkhunter thank you for sharing your experience with ZM. I found it helpful. Trailering is not an option for me, and a boat lift is not in my immediate future. My plan for now is frequent use at least 2x week, ezdrain the water from the system after each use, occasional spot checks, and will look in...

Re: Zebra mussels
Thanks for your responses. Getting a lift isn’t an option at the moment.. maybe summer 2024. Too bad nobody has invented a coating to prevent ZM’s. Shark Tank idea?! The new Volvo engines have the “easy drain” lever function which removes water from the engine system. As a precaution I could drain t...

Zebra mussels
Anyone on here have any experience with mooring their boat to a dock all summer when there are zebra mussels present? I have an outboard today and can trim the engine out of the water between use. The bottom of my hull will have zebra mussels attached to it when I pull the boat out. I am switching t...

Re: Trailer Recommendation
I have a trailer question. First of all.. today we placed the order for a new 2023 R8S! Super excited for next year already. Dealer says it will be completed by Feb. Anyways I’m wondering about the trailer. The boat is coming with a Heritage tandem axle trailer. For trailering safety it’s important ...
