Re: Starting Stereo/Electronics Upgrade Project
Yep it should be pretty cool, gives you a suite of gauges on your MDF straight from the ECM. Also through the bluetooth app it is a pretty good diagnostic tool where you can read and clear fault codes. Throwing in a few more pics, these are the final amp and sub install with some better lighting. I ...

Re: Starting Stereo/Electronics Upgrade Project
Got the Fox Marine Gateways in today, took a little bit to get them shipped out but i was able to communicate with Fox via text so no problems there. I think I have a good mounting location for them in the engine compartment and just working up a mounting board for and them and figuring out the wiri...

Re: Adding amplifier
sounds good! You'll need an extra breaker or fuse on that 2nd run of cable as well just like to original one.

Re: Adding amplifier
Also are you replacing the original amp with a new one or adding a second amp. If you're going from 1 amp to 2 there are additional concerns and you should make a second run of power and ground cable or a single run of larger gauge power and ground wire to a splitter and not just run both amps from ...

Re: Adding amplifier
You definetly want the stereo/amp connected to the house battery, # 1 if that's the house battery. If you are out floating you want the house battery to drain and not the starting battery. If the house battery goes dead no problem you can still get your boat started from the engine battery. If you d...

Re: Starting Stereo/Electronics Upgrade Project
Here is the amp and sub in the cabin as well as the drawer i made. Not sure on the look of the drawer and still need to add some lighting in this area so the pics are by flashlight and the mirror finish on the amp covers doesn't photograph very well! I added a tray in the front half of the drawer ma...

Re: Starting Stereo/Electronics Upgrade Project
Got some more work done yesterday mounting the MFD and finishing up the amp mounting and tuning. Everything seems to take so much longer working on a boat! The fusion head unit linked up right away with the MFD and gave me a Media tab on the display with full function of the head unit (very cool). H...

Re: Freshwater level
1 other point on the fresh water is i think both our boats are plumbed with the sinks draining into the sump and then pumping into the holding tank. I never like to carry enough water to fill up the holding tank if someone ran a bunch of water into the sink. Id rather run out of water then fill the ...

Re: Freshwater level
The one pictured was from the factory. I had a 280 seaway before the Cobalt and it had a freshwater tank without a gauge for it and it really couldn't be manually checked either. If your not overnighting on the boat i would think keeping close tabs on the water level is not critical on a day boat. M...

Re: Freshwater level
I have a "gauge" similar to the one attached.
It's located in the head so not very handy. Ive been looking for a NMEA converter. What type of NMEA display of you have?

Re: Starting Stereo/Electronics Upgrade Project
Mine needs to go right in here where I'm taking out the old Garmin which is why the space is such a concern, it gets pretty narrow deeper into that pocket. I'll need to fab up a black starboard plate to cover the old hole and mount this in front of that plate. Not sure yet if i'll mount it on on the...
