Re: New to me R3
. Nice KWS. How many folks have you carried at once? Four up to this point and it was super roomy. However, when your switching people for tubing it's like every one wants to be around the action and blocking the walkway to the swim platform. Even used the table and had four around it, but that is ...

Re: R3 Gauges at start up & weird overheat issue
Thanks for the info. The impeller was brand new. I had the 100 hr service completed after I bought it and before my maiden voyage. However, to your point it could be cooked at this point.

R3 Gauges at start up & weird overheat issue
I'm seeking input from the brain trust! I had my '16 R3 (VP 300 DP) out yesterday for the second time since my recent purchase. The first time it ran like a champ and I also just had the 100 hour service done at 82 hours by a Cobalt dealer. Yesterday, I got about 300-400 yards out from the launch an...

Re: Battery Charger/Maintainer Endorsement
I have that exact noco charger and it works great. I tested it getting to float charge and then drawing currently off the battery and it returned to charging mode just fine. Also tested power loss for several hours and it returned to the last state that is was in before power loss 20221017_172543.j...

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
I ended up getting a new 2020 EZ Loader from my Cobalt dealer that originally sold the boat I bought used. They used it in the yard, but never sold it. It was the only trailer they had to sell and it fits the R3 perfectly. The trailer looks new and has the lighted Cobalt panel. I’m very pleased with...

New to me R3
I’ve been lurking for months on this website and appreciate all the answers I’ve received from those much more versed in the world of boating, and specifically boating with Cobalt. I know I’ll be leaning on this group for more information and I want to thank you all in advance. Today, I brought home...

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
Thanks to all. I've settled on the R3 and completed a survey/water trial (excellent report) and hope to have the boat very early next week.

That trailer is a thing of beauty! Did you get torsion axles on it?
Did you get the boat, too? Would love to see pics of them mated up!

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
Today was the day! I went and saw the 2012 242 and 2016 R3. Without a doubt, the R3 was the clear winner. It was in immaculate condition and showed so much better. The 242 was nice, but the interior showed its age. To be fair, it is 4 years older and has 23 more run time hours. This was evident espe...

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
The 242 is a 2012 and the R3 is a 2016. I'll need to go back and look at the engine pictures for the insta drain feature. I'm all about doing as much wrenching as I can. I enjoy it and allows for my squeaky wallet to remain much more silent!

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
dsthomas - I agree with your approach. None of it is financially off-putting as I could easily cash purchase any of these boats, but there's the analytical/logical part of my brain that overtakes my brain's fun factory. All said, I'll likely end up with one of the Cobalts. I just need to see them an...

Re: R3, 242, or Regal 2300 XR
I really appreciate the info and insight! I'm hopefully going to see the 242 and R3 tomorrow. The 2300 RX is a couple hours away. The downfall is I'm leaning Cobalt without seeing the Regal. The Regal already comes with a trailer (huge savings as there aren't many used trailers locally) and it's loa...
