Cobalt R4 Recall Notice

Got this love letter from Cobalt for my 2022 R4, anyone had the anti-siphon valve installed? Waiting for my dealer's service appointment date.

Re: 2023 R4 Outboard

Thank you for the outstanding review of the Cobalt R4 OB. It was especially relevant since your last boat was a pre-R generation Cobalt even longer than the R4 hull; yet your experience is that the R4 OB performed similarly to one of the "they don't make them like they used to - Cobalts."

Re: 1985 21BR Project Boat: Will we save it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kopF4muvF0c a complete gut and rebuild of a 96 sea ray in over 20 how-did youtube videos by Friscoboater's garage. Aside from the labor, it also cost him a marriage. it saved my wallet, literally. After watching that video series, facing a 98 Sea Ray restoration; I so...

Re: 2023 R4 cracks starting

It seems to me like most of these types of issues have been post-covid. well, in 2022 Cobalt ran a few help-wanted advertisements: May 16, June 22 and July 12, 2022. I'm sure these new folks will build 'em as good as the old hands, in a couple of years or so. Or, Malibu may just move the entire Cob...

Re: Surf model buying advice

You might want to play hooky and sneak over to Cobalt's Boss'es house, or at at least their garage: https://www.malibuboats.com/discover-malibu/malibu-monsoon-engines Malibu, who lives and dies by their "wave," offers three engines: 360hp-400 ft lbs. TORQUE, 430hp-460 TORQUE and 607hp-606 ...

Re: 2013 Cobalt R5 Purchasing Question

You will know if it is worthy of being a premium-priced boat AFTER your SURVEYOR gives you his report on the condition of the boat after his tests. He will water test it by running it, he will moisture test it (to make sure the interior flotation foam is not waterlogged), he will test every operatin...

So, where was your 2024 Cobalt built?

A new subject for future discussion; which 2024 'balts are better; the Mothership-built in Kansas, or the new fab-built in Tenn? "This will be the second Malibu facility outside of the company’s Loudon headquarters and will be used to meet growing customer demand of the existing Cobalt boat bra...

Re: Pontoon for lifelong powerboater?

It is sobering to discover your new boat is the dino version of current boating trends. The bowrider of the 2020's is like the '60's runabouts. In the sixties the closed front runabout was Sooo dated compared to the brand new confangled open bow fiberglass bow rider then taking american boating by s...

Re: CS22 in Rough Water

Oops! you missed it by one day. Malibu (Cobalt) stock closed down 3% on Sept 5. but today pre-market it is up 2%. So you shoulda got the CS22 for 23% off if you bought after 4pm on Sept 5. That day's wait may cost you. Tongue in cheek here, but individual boats are not listed on the stock market, an...

Re: 2022 A29 major issues

I've read about a few horror stories about the A29. If you check out the FaceBook Cobalt Owners Group, you'll see them well documented. It's a shame as it's a beautiful boat, but this model doesn't appear to pass the smell test. it is not the friday or monday build warranty issues, it's the phone c...

Re: Late 2000s 242-262s 8.1 ok to buy?

Why C naval architects (tongue in cheek) haven’t been able to figure out how to design self-bailing cockpits is one those unsolved mysteries. I’d sleep a little easier if I didn’t need to rely on an (awarded to the cheapest) bilge pump supplier for their self actuating and working pump; just because...
