Re: `77 888 dead
Im afraid we are going to cut our losses and move on.
We're going to try and sell it for what we can.
With a bad engine it won't be much. But we need more space and some thing to fish off of.
Looking at a pontoon boat now.

`77 888 dead
Yep, Got the bad news today. 2 cylinders little to no compression. The other 4 low. 765hrs I guess might be the life expectancy of a 302 in a marine application. Not really keen on putting the money in to repowering this old tub. Don't know if the out drive will hold up to factory+ power or not

Re: 1977 888 carb replaced wont run below 1200 rpm
So......
Installed the cable, that's the trick. Come to find out one needs the cable to hold the carb shut.
Thank you for the reply. Also the 650 to 700 rpm would that be at operating temperature in gear?

1977 888 carb replaced wont run below 1200 rpm
As the title suggests, Cant get the engine to run below 1200 rpm. Should the cable be cramming the carb closed? I've been trying to run it with out the cable hooked up. Boat ran good one trip, float stuck open kept flooding out, replaced carb. I've been trying for hrs to get this adjusted. Kept goin...

Re: trailer needs work but how?
Thank you, ill let you know how to turns out. The trailer would be scrapped if I had the money for a good used one, but alas poor people have poor ways. I have the material and ability to do the welding. And the room at the house to work on it. Now I just have to get brave enough to pull the trailer...

Re: how to eliminate torque feed back?
Thank you so much for the links. I believe that the prop May be the reason for the interference. I still need to learn how to find out what prop is on it. Thanks again.
I just picked up a anode that must of been stock.

how to eliminate torque feed back?
As the title suggests im having a hard time with torque feed back through the steering. My 19br with the 888 drive will really give you a work out. I do not have power steering and nor can I afford to retrofit a system in. I've only taken the boat out a few times and still trying to get a feel for t...

Re: fishing platform ?
Im going to build a engine cover that can hold a 300 lbs man with a swivel seat. Im thinking about reworking both seats on either side of the cover and integrating them into the engine cover as one piece so when opened ill have a lot more room to work. Just haven't studied it long enough yet to have...

fishing platform ?
I've got a `77 19br that the family loves, I was more inclined to a fish and ski type boat. So my question is has any seen a platform built/added to the engine cover?

Thank you, for all of the positive things I've heard about these boats the owners don't seem to be real active in forums. I hope this place takes off.
