Re: R3 with 300hp Volvo Penta - Top Speed 48.5 mph
My 2016 R3 WSS with a 350 Merc will run 52 MPH. 3 adults full take so I think the the 3 - 4 MPH estimate is pretty close. I wanted the extra MPH because I was upgrading from an 03 Crownline that will run 48 MPH and as vain as it may sound I wanted my new boat to run faster than my old boat. On a res...

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
I'm pretty sure it's a BR 202, it's 21 feet long with the swimstep.

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
IMG_20180806_124000534_HDR.jpg Well here goes a big Thank You to Jeff and Katie for sharing the information on this 2016 R3 WSS. I also want to thank all of the passionate Cobalt owners that shared their thoughts on Surf or no Surf. At the end of the day I dicided on no surf for my family. However ...

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Wow, thebobcarter is after my heart, Red R3, love it, I am currently searching for a used Red WSS 2014 or 2015 with duo prop. I have one of the Lake Martin NO water in winter homes and about 8 feet during full pool so I am still struggling with the forward drive idea. Congratulation on your R3 Surf....

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
This one kind of surprises me a bit. I would have thought the SeaRay would be just as nice. My wife and I think the Sea Ray is a beautiful boat but just like someone may think a Ford truck rides the best and someone else thinks the Chevy rides the best. Our perception was the R3 took the wakes we cr...

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Time for an update, I dont know if BobRae99 has been following my wife and I around but as it turns out at the suggestion of a friend this past week we have ridden a couple of pontoons, a couple or Sea Rays and after drooling over the Cobalt R3 for several summers we finally took a ride on a NEW R3....

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Ok as a new member I don't want to start anything or post something either wrong or in the wrong place but is it ok to ask y'all yes I'm from Alabama, what are your thoughts on Malibu proposal to buy Cobalt. Again after years of research I'm finally ready to get a Cobalt and now I'm reading this on ...

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Thank you everyone for the continued comments, I will at least CK on the R5, if I have to get a one owner unit for the size and budget to match so be it. The Harley rider in me likes the Captains Call idea, if I special order a new one I assume I can just add it to the list.

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
I will continue to read replys as they are offered but for now being in my late 50's and desiring more comfort from a larger bowrider without having to learn a lot of new tricks it seems I will be very happy with a new R3 with it's duel props and a added tower. Now I just have to decide on how much ...

Re: R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Thank You A7 and Big Block Power, as a new member I have not figured out how to load a picture, my 2003 Crownline 202 is Red, I bought it in 2008 with 7 hours on it and we love it. Just ready for a larger boat. Most of my Toys are Red and I expect my New Boat will also be red. I am looking forward t...

R3 or R3 Surf, To Surf or not to Surf
Looking for some advice, I have just joined this forum and this will be my first post. My wife and I have enjoyed our 21 foot bowrider (not a cobalt) for 10 years. We have decided it is time to get a larger boat and prefer the R3 over the CS23 because we do not simply want a longer boat we want a bi...
