R series behind dash access

Wondering what the best way to access the space in the R series between the amp mounting area under the swing up bow seat and the dashboard.

Guessing removal of screws in that amp panel?

Re: My 2017 R5 Mods and Maintenance

Thanks. I have a few other mods I have done. Modding is fun. I agree. With additional time on hands from covid, I almost look forward to things breaking so I can fix... What else you have planned? I want to add the rudder indicator I purchased last year, but requires drilling in the hull which is n...

Re: R5 Premium Stereo issues (2020)

Three ish problems. 1. Zone 4 turned off in RF preamp 2. Bow and transom fine. Cobalt wisely did not waste an amp channel on tower speaker place holders. 4 channels reserved for cockpits 6 speakers. 4 channels plugged into amp incorrectly so cockpit preamp zone spanned 2 amp zones and this played in...

Re: R5 Premium Stereo issues (2020)

Yep. Still seems the factory wired the cockpit wrong. They essentially cabled the dedicated tweeters to the left channel, and all 4 cockpit mains to the right. Also for a build to order boat with no tower speakers, I would think directly wiring the rear cockpit mains to the amp (vs wiring in paralle...

Re: R5 Premium Stereo issues (2020)

I am guessing channel 3/4 speakers were wired wrong at the factory. Based on my recollection of the test I did unplugging RCA jacks for Zone 1 (Cockpit) at the head unit... Unplugging the Left RCA disabled all four cockpit speakers, and unplugging the Right RCA disabled the tweeters, it would seem t...

lespaulrob wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 9:11 am If I had to guess, I'd say that Zone 4 is pre-wired for the tower speakers, but that's purely a guess.
Great guess! Didn't think of that. Probably correct. Clearly I need to do some speaker cable tracing. If Z4 is for tower, I should be able to repurpose for one of the cockpit pairs...

Re: EVC System

I use cruise as you described - to optimize speed in a no wake zone. I have Trim Assist on all the time - and only tweak the trim as necessary. Pretty sure trim on the throttle handle trims both engines, and trim PT/SB are for the individual drives. I think the link Lee posted is to an installation ...

Re: R5 Underwater light install

I think the fuses are directly towards the bow of the dash. Open the swing up bow seat on the starboard side. Should be a little “box” that comes off and reveals a bunch of fuses/circuit breakers.

Re: question on oil changing

I also use the Amazon pump that threads onto the dipstick Lee posted (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O8F0SU). Initially I purchased one that had tubes you push down through the dipstick into the drain pan. Note that on at least newer Volvo engines, there is something that blocks such tubes fr...

Bimini Arch

Been meaning to ask what is likely something stupid I'm missing... Have a 2020 R5 with Bimini/Arch. It has these large hand screws that lock the arch in place. If you remove these, the arch is still pretty locked in place, but with a lot of force, you can pull down on the front end and it will pivot...
