Re: Propeller selection info and speeds

This is an interesting topic. Again I've done some pretty exhaustive research on if I should upgrade or switch props - Mine is an SX Single prop so not quite the same issues as the Duo Prop - but I did find the Volvo Penta page which discusses all the different drives and prop configurations. here i...

Re: Airhead Mega Ruckus from Walmart

After careful (read crazy) research I went with the O'brien Relax 2. We have two little ones (3 & 2) and wanted something cozy and safe enough for an adult to ride with two littles. After a mishap with delivery we ended up with two of them - also good as the first one was slowly deflating after ...

Re: Vinyl & Gel Coat Maintenance

So as some of you may be beginning to realize I am a little OCD about researching the best products to keep things running and looking pristine. After poking around on the internet I decided to call the guys at Boat Bling directly and spoke to Zach. He could not have been more patient or knowledgeab...

Trimming

So I've been experimenting with the trim quite a bit the last few days. It's a new boat (to me) and small compared to most Cobalts. It's a 190 with a 5.0 Volvo Penta GL and it is incredibly responsive to small tweaks in the trim. I think because it's only 19 ft this really adds to how aggressively i...

Re: Recently picked up a rod and reel - Abu Garcia Revo S and St. Croix Avid

You'd be surprised - I'll switch that Stella 4000 to a Trevala rod, throw on a butterfly jig and catch lake trout in the middle of the lake.

I agree though, there are many opinions out there about what the best setups are but it's really about what feels right in your paw. ;)

Re: Vinyl & Gel Coat Maintenance

Interesting stuff - I spoke to my Cobalt dealer and one of the guys said they use SprayNine for cleaning everything - vinyl, flooring, gelcoat - and 303 aerospace to protect the vinyl. So then i called Cobalt directly to see what they recommend and I spoke to Rick who has been at cobalt for years. H...

Re: Finger Lakes

Anyone got any cool ideas for day trips on any of the Finger Lakes? Would like to drop in with the family in the morning and cruise for the day... any sightseeing or itinerary would be helpful.

Re: Recently picked up a rod and reel - Abu Garcia Revo S and St. Croix Avid

I have plenty of different set ups depending on what kind of fishing I'm doing. For light gear saltwater fishing Shimano is my go to - Stella reel and Teralejo shore casting rod. As far as freshwater I've tinkered around with quite a few setups and I've settled into a Lamiglas rod and a Pfleuger ree...

Vinyl & Gel Coat Maintenance

Wanted to know what products and seasonal rituals people have in maintaining the interior and exterior of their boats. I've heard 303 Aerospace protectant is widely utilized for interiors but Cobalts are unique animals and being a new owner I'm curious to hear from you guys about products and season...

Re: Dock bumpers

If you're going to go with them then get the vertical bumpers - not the horizontal. Better protection in chop. The wheels are cool as well and so are these corner "torpedoes" as they're called. I got ours from these guys - you can see them all in that first shot: http://www.shoresidedocks....

Figured out how to resize - here's a shot of my new (to me) 2002 190. 47 hours on it.

talked to some people at the marina and they all said the guy would have it washed and polished and all the carpets shampooed every season. It literally looks brand new.
