Well, I think I have the oil change scenario under control now. It turns out that the dipstick hole has a standard hose connection built right on it. I haven't used anything on the vinyl because I just purchased the boat. Since there seems to be no hardening at all in the area where the discoloring is, it leads me to believe it is just sun damage. There are some dye products on the market so I will probably give one of them a try. In the meantime...

The engine does have that harmonic balancer. The stern drive unit is the SX. The engine is fuel injected. I checked it out and the closest DrVinyl to me is thousands of miles away. I doubt they travel that far I'll post pictures as soon as I can get down to where it's stored.

Thank you for that info. I wasn't sure they made a tube that would go into something as small as the dipstick hole. Also wasn't sure if the tube would reach to the bottom of the pan. Its' too bad the manufacturers don't put a valve right on the oil pan where you could hook up a suction hose. I did ...

The boat is in storage right now. But next time I get down there I'll take pics. The upholstery is in perfect condition. No tears ,rips or worn areas. I'm full of questions today. I just got my Cobalt 190 boat. It has a brand new engine in it ( Ford 302 ) and I will soon be changing to a synthetic oil. I use Mobil One in all my vehicles. What device do you use to drain the oil ? And where can I get this ?

I have a Cobalt 190. Some of the upholstery which I guess is vinyl or naugahide, has discolored a bit from the sun. Is there a dye available that I can redo those areas?

New kid on the block. Looking forward to tips and other info on my recent Cobalt boat. I'm on Flathead Lake in western Montana. Largest freshwater natural lake west of the Mississippi. We have many other big lakes in Montana as well.
