Re: RPM, wear, fuel economy
Great answers, thanks. Did not know the Bimini top was rated at 35 mph. We had very heavy winds yesterday and was thinking it looked quite stressed. Do any of you with more recent Cobalts have a fuel economy gauge? If yes, what speed or rpm does it usually max out at?

RPM, wear, fuel economy
Been really loving my 2001 Cobalt 226 with 5.7 280 HP this summer. Piled quite a few miles on it. A few times I have put the hammer down and am very pleased with the speed. Just wondering how these engines last at WOT? Mine is running around 5000 RPM when wound out. I have found lately that 3000 RPM...

Re: Hello from Toronto
Great, that makes two of us with boats from Texas on Lake Muskoka. We had Canada Day fire works last night and I took the boat to watch it near Walker's point. There had to be 1000 boats in the water. Cobalt has great market share up on this lake. Very nice looking boat, Congratulations. . Mine is a...

Would the Cobalt wiring be through a relay like on a car?

Need more hornpower
Not sure if my 226 is normal, but my horn is the most anemic thing I have heard. Are boat horns quieter out of respect for the surroundings? Anyone have a preferred dual tone for marine use? Mine is so muted, I don't even know where it is.

Re: 210 with Volvo DP 300 or 320 hp
Just wondering after reading this if the tune on my 2001 5.7 280 HP is leaving power on the table as my local marina is selling 91 octane. This is the only local gas that is ethanol free.
I am assuming my factory tune is set up for 87 octane.

Setting power trim.
Been playing around with the trim on my 5.7 2001 226 (Volvo). It seems for cruising once planning it feels more efficient to raise the motor a bit. Is there a tilt strategy for different water conditions? Get it under way all the way down, then raise it up till it Bobs ? Then down a bit? In rough wa...

Re: Was there a badge in this place on the dash?
Great suggestions. I did some detailing today on the vinyl, and I must say, I have bonded with this boat.
Not like the other boat I recently acquired, an Edgewater 15.5 with a Tohatsu 90 HP. Really not liking that one. Good Boat, Bad Boat.

Re: Was there a badge in this place on the dash?
These boats use wood on the dash? Wow, I would have thought it was simulated. I'll tread carefully.
Thanks

Re: It's not a Cobalt but,
Lot's of style in those trailer fenders. Is that a toilet in the interior? It all looks to be in great shape. Will be like restoring a WW II aircraft. Here is the one I was involved with for 6 years before it was mothballed and put into long term storage. http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.ph...
