Re: New to me 2023 CS22 and First time boat owner
Welcome to the forum, Seabalt! I wouldn't worry much about the duoprop. You do get a bit better "bite" on the water, but I suspect you won't miss it in a CS22. If it makes you feel any better, I have a V8-225 on my 21' Cobalt, and have never wished for more top-end horsepower. I just don't...

Re: Hello from ARGO 2004 Cobalt 360
Welcome Argo! Nice boat - it would be fun to see some photos of the inside as well. Sorry if you were in new-member limbo for a bit - we had a problem with verification emails going out that has hopefully been permanently resolved. We used to use Gmail, but they kept changing security for remote app...

Re: Cost comparison using Gas Consumption
I wonder how much of the change in Naples will revert once boomers are gone and there aren't Gen X or Millenials or whatever behind them to buy all their real estate and other stuff. Could be interesting times.

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
It sounds like the high and low pressure pumps themselves are Carter pumps, and they can be swapped into the fuel pressure pump assembly fairly easily once you've removed paint from the interior surfaces. Of course this guy will do it all for you for $500 or so - https://mancavemechanic.com/

Re: Finally got an R5 and have a couple of questions
Sorry to hear about your growing list of projects - hoe you can get them sorted out, and the group here can help with pointers to make them a little smoother,

Re: Approximate Tongue Weight of R6
Tongue weight is entirely dependent on how you configure your trailer. An R6 weights 5800lb dry, and with a full tank of gas (60 gallons) and a few little things like an anchor would be 6300lb plus. Add your trailer weight (guessing 1400 lb?) and you can ballpark 7700lb total weight being towed. If ...

Re: New server and hosting company
Just a quick note - Google decided to run an "optimization" that introduce a bunch more ads (mostly in between posts within a thread), which I stopped as soon as I became aware. So, if you saw a bunch of new ads in new places the first few days of March, that's what was going on. I did no...

Re: Cost comparison using Gas Consumption
I got to spend some time on a Tiara 38' last year, and these boats have a lot more in common with modern luxury yachts than the bare-bones dedicated fishing center consoles of years past.

Re: Audio Suggestions
I've had no issues with their speakers, but their head unit was a no-go for me. The thread I linked goes over it in detail, but I got a couple defective units in a row, only to find out it couldn't play much for digital media (limited to 999 files for an external drive) and I returned it for a Fusio...

Re: Cost comparison using Gas Consumption
I'd find similarly-equipped boats on review sites like boattest.com and look at their fuel usage charts if you can't find direct reviews of the boats you're interested in. Manufacturers don't usually provide fuel efficiency charts, but better review sites sometimes do. John edit: Boattest is subscri...

Re: Audio Suggestions
Regarding speakers, I'd put JL Audio and Wet Sounds solidly above Rockford Fosgate (I wouldn't spend the kind of money you're looking at and put Rockford Fosgate speakers in a boat). There are some smaller brands like Roswell Marine that may be another step up yet in quality (Cobalt used them as a s...
