Re: Called Cobalt: Docking Lights Update

I heard they are mechanically the same but the ECU is each company’s system.

Re: Gents, what are your thoughts on this?

Mine is the total opposite. She doesn’t like going to boat shows because she only wants to look at one or two brands because everything else looks like crap to her.

Re: Gents, what are your thoughts on this?

Are we still looking for a boat for surfed? That Omaha one has been for sale for a long long time. I know someone that has looked at it and talked to him. From what I know he says it's over priced and he's not budging. This is what happens when the wife makes you sell but you have no intention of l...

Re: Oil change

My marina charges $800 just for bellows. That’s a huge job in labor hours even though it’s fairly simple conceptually

Re: The Leaderboard

I joined June 2016 but I’m more of a lurker than a poster. I was here when there might be a new thread a week. Really last spring is when things started picking up. Happy to be a part of such a great group of guys.

Liquid that makes total sense. That’s been my experience as well with engines that sit too long. I try not to let mine sit a week without running it around even if I just run up there to start the engine and take a quick 15 minute spin around.

Re: Gents, what are your thoughts on this?

My boat was 14 years old and had 47 hours on it when I bought it. Looked like it belonged at a boat show. Just saying. I actually distinctly remember that. Not to derail the thread but did they winterize the engine before they put it away? I’ve actually seen boats at the marina have issues when peo...

Re: Gents, what are your thoughts on this?

600 hours is nothing if it’s freshwater. It’s a truck engine, believe it or not people put 200-300k miles on trucks all the time without catastrophic engine failure. If you’re wary try to get them to replace the bellows and risers as that’s what gets the brunt of corrosion. Boats are meant to be use...

Re: Going to the Bahamas!!!!

Good for him but I would never cross over to the Bahamas without engine redundancy. If anything ever went wrong things get hairy in a hurry down there and waiting for a tow leaves me uneasy. His engine wasn’t even broken in yet. These are the guys that get the coast guard killed. Sorry to be a buzzk...

Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?

Seadek is notoriously awful at customer service. Marine Mat will definitely have the templates as they are OEM and John is really great with getting back to you. If you’re going through a dealer I think you’ll have better luck. I think they focus their attention on their OEM and installers.

Re: What upgrades have you done to your boat?

Cobalt uses marine mat. Once they have the template for your boat they can do any color or design. If you look around at the dealerships you’ll see the marine mat in a few different designs.

Re: What upgrades have you done to your boat?

They stopped using them bc the motor breaks. They were replacing them at a rapid clip that’s why the switched over to the manual
