Re: Used R5 Surf.

If you hook it up to the computer you can get a read out on the hours. I guarantee 200 of those hours are 2000 RPMs and below. It’s not uncommon for a tow boat to have 200-300 hours per year usage. There’s no reason to turn the boat off since the engine is tucked so they do a lot of idling while peo...

Re: Captains Call Exhaust Option

You are ordering, correct? Let me pose this question.. What would you rather have for the extra money you are investing? A loud exhaust on a small block or a nice step up in horsepower and torque? I’m a little old school. My personal hang up with it? if you are advertising HP with straight pipes, y...

Re: What's banned in your boat?

No glass bottles, red drinks or gummies. My father had a gummy snack ground into his carpet from my brother’s friend when he was younger.

I actually have two of the only beanie babies left with any real value.

We were at David Wells Perfect game in 1998 when the give away was beanie babies. We have two with ticket stubs and programs. They’re probably worth $100-250 to the right person.

Re: Boat Show Order Traded in my 220S

I agree BBP they look pretty cool just not a whole lot of utility.

Cycle I’m in the same situation I’m in a slip and they are TIGHT but there’s some parking lot lighting and the few times I have come back at night it hasn’t been an issue at all.

Re: Boat Show Order Traded in my 220S

I wouldn’t think twice about it. I have docking lifts and they’re useless. It’s actually better to keep everything dark at night. The light messes with your ability to see in the dark. If you need functionality get an LED spotlight to flash if you need it but the lights are completely useless.

Re: Will Malibu be a good custodian of the Cobalt Brand??

I agree with you Tuscany. Formula has the premium big boat market advantage over Cobalt. The A40 isn’t really even set up for full overnight. It’s more like a long cruise day boat.

Any I/O is going to be out of favor down there. Those guys are die hard center console blow hards down there.

Re: Will Malibu be a good custodian of the Cobalt Brand??

They have a supercharged 6.0 option and he said there’s no benefit because you only really get a difference in the low end performance and the 550 and 450 hp options perform the same or very close low end and you can’t get the high end benefit. It’s a $10,000 upgrade and he’s always been very up fro...

Re: Will Malibu be a good custodian of the Cobalt Brand??

The issue with any inboard is once you get to 40mph you start running into issues where the turbulence of the water from the prop starts rattling the rudder. I was talking to the nautique dealer at the show a couple weeks back. So you can’t really drive them around 50 anyways, at least how they’re s...

Re: Will Malibu be a good custodian of the Cobalt Brand??

I do business with Cobalt. The marina I go to is a Cobalt dealer and just stopped selling Malibu a few years ago because they are also a Nautique dealer and they wanted to focus on just the two. This weekend at the boat show I was able to speak to my dealer who was there as well as a rep from the M...

Re: School shooting.

Frankly they seem almost hyper sensative about gun safety. Every gun owner I know (myself included) is extremely safety conscious. You don't get second chances when it comes to those types of things. Respect the 3 rules and there will never be a problem. I've been around one or two who were not all...

Re: Will Malibu be a good custodian of the Cobalt Brand??

My sources tell me they will be alone. Cobalt gets Malibu’s marketing expertise and the surf gate on their surf boats. The surf gate is already being tested. On the Malibu’s they are taking the flip down step.

Re: Boat Insurance

I used a broker last year and got a really good rate. This year when it came time to renew my policy went up $150 from last year. I reached out to charter lakes and got a policy $100 cheaper than my initial plan. If you go on the other boards you will find Charter Lakes rules over everyone.
