Didnt really want to start a new thread so posted question here.....is the R7 really considered a 28' boat? LOA is 27"6" including platform. So the hull itself is what 26' give or take? Seems like the newer the boat the shorter they get relative to older models with bolt on platforms.

The reason i ask is im already sick of my R7 ive never even driven and looking to upgrade 😉

Agree. We have the 222...22'6 without the platform... 24'6 w the platform.

You would want to do a comparison to the R3 when it's really more like the R5.

So I just say we have a 25' boat now instead of a 23'... After rounding of course...two footies strikes again! Lol

So since all the new boats have molded extended swim platforms they count towards length of the boat.

Which really makes the boat smaller than the old style. If we upgraded to an R3 we would be going down in size and I said that wouldn't work. Gotta go bigger! Lol

Not to rain on your parade Nauti but isnt the R5 overall like 25'6" with platform? So probably a 24' hull? Not that its that much bigger of course. Idk....seems like they should of stuck to LOA without platforms all this time. But i guess marketing a hull size with less material cost = profit 🤑

So if all this is true....i really only got another 2.5 feet or so of actual hull feom the 240 to R7. Yep. Time to look at A28s or R30s....

Hahaha I’ve been doing the same thing ever since I bought my boat. Wife keeps saying you haven’t even taken delivery on the 262 yet! I’m sure once I get to drive it Aganin I will love it. I’m sure you are just going through the same thing.

You mean manic depressive excited fits of crazy? Yep. Been that way since we came to terms. Ive been in my new boat once and a 2018 R7 at the boatshow. All i can say is regardless it certainly feels substantially bigger on the interior than the 240. That 240 was/is a really great bot though. Given the space available it was laid out perfect. The only thing that would have made it better was the flipback aft seating configuration you see on newer boats. Im a mess.....

Forgot to mention TG.....i think your 262 is either same size as mine or longer with platform. Well do a side by side this summer 😎

In our association on Lake Winni, there are limitations on boat lengths for the moorings and docks of 28'. So, By buying an older model 250, I can honestly give hull lenght numbers (without swim platform) that are well under the limits. If I bought newer - with the integrated platform - I'd have to buy a boat that was technically right on the limit just to match the same length boat. Of course, the newer models do a slightly better job with space management than the older ones, but I guess what I'm saying is that I'm lucky in a sense - the length limitations are a forcing function to keep my 2footitis in check. ;-)

This is for sure the case. My 252 feels small on the inside, I lose about 5 feet of interior space due to the configuration of the seats and engine hatch/sun pad. Seems like the newer models are designed to take advantage of nearly the entire length of the boat by setting the engine lower and putting seats and a walkaround space on top.
