2005 Cobalt 246-Depth finder

Post by Beaty6 »

would someone mind to give me "idiot" proof instructions on my depth finder. There are 4 readings, but mainly i would like to know how to set the alarm when I reach a certain shallow depth.

thank you in advance

I can't help you much. I turn mine off. I rather not know how shallow I'm in. Just keeps me looking at the dumb guage. Most of the boats I owned the guage didn't work and I liked it better that way. I boat in shallow water all the time and know most of the bad spots. I just close my eyes and wait for a thunk. Just kidding
I'm pretty sure you select it when it says SH and click it down or up to your depth you want.

I find myself very paranoid always watching the guage in a boat that has one working. So I try not to. I like the guage when docking. That's really the only time I like it so I know where I need the drive height to be. I watch the color of the water more than anything. I boat in water about 3-4 ft deep allot. One whole lake is only 7ft deep. Or huge lake in our state is 19 ft deep max. So 6 ft is deep to us. The good thing is we can't see the bottom so that helps.lol

Yes it's funny seeing people that boat on Michigan or Green Bay. They get all shook up at 10 feet.lol Heck I take off in 3 feet. I don't even think of worrying till 3 feet. If I'm cruising I just stay on plane. Our deepest inland lake is over 230feet deep but only go there a few times a year. It's odd seeing rocks at 10 feet.lol cross my fingers I haven't hit in ten years and that was my wife that hit back then.
Yes the water is high here right now to. I fill sorry for the middle of the country right now.
