Improving speaker grills on '06 262
Cobalts in the 2006 range have some kind of fuzzy coating on the speaker grills that is easily gouged and scratched during cleaning. Looks terrible when the dark plastic underneath shows through. Mine got so bad I pulled them out and covered them with speaker cloth. See the pictures. First step was to remove the surface fuzz which I did with sandpaper. Then I cut out replacement covers from basic quality speaker cloth from Amazon. I used Elmer's spray adhesive on the covers and the speaker cloth laid out beautifully. On the back I again used Elmer's along the edges to secure the cloth. Surprisingly easy and very satisfying. The Cobalt logo pops off and I touched mine up with a combination of acrylic paint and a simple black magic marker. Fun and simple fix and I think it looks 100% better. Happy to answer any questions y'all might have.
