2017 R5 Surf System Light Flashing

Post by tyson904 »

Hello all, yesterday as we here heading out of our slip, and went to get on plane the Red Surf system light started flashing. Were were not deploying the tabs at all. We turn off the boat and the light went off. AS well started on plain again the light started flashing. Boat seemed to run perfect. I did try and deploy the tabs and they seem to come down and work just fine. I will be doing more testing on it thursday when were are back at the lake.

Any thoughts? We are on Norris Lake Tn.

Thanks in advance

I've had the red light a few times but it was while surfing and usually when we come to a stop and I would get a message, surf tab not stowed properly. Cycling the key off and then back on usually does the trick one time we had to turn the battery off and then back on and we haven't had an issue since. Never had it while not surfing. Hope you get it figured out.

Well was at the boat yesterday and took the fin off the actuators and moved the Manual trim tab with out hitting the surf button. One actuator moved and the Port inner actuator did not move. Looks like I have a bad actuator. Off to the shop next week to see if they can replace or if it is an easy DIY.

Does anyone know the part number or what actuator kit I need for the surf tab. Port side and the actuator closet to the engine. I was going to try and change it myself before get it over to the dealer.

Update,
It was a Bad Actuator, the dealer changed the bad Actuator and the light stopped flashing.

I was told by the dealer this happens and to have one on hand if it happens again. Changing it out seems easy enough only hard part is disassembling the connector and reassembling it in the tight area in the engine compartment.

Thanks Norris_Boating, I will be ordering one of those in the future

If anyone checks this page in the future, here is a link to the Lenco Actuator catalog
http://www.delzer.com/oneasg/lenco/37/#zoom=z

I think this is actually the one that goes on the Surf boats,
