2006 Trailer Data (ALL 2006 models)

Post by DEcosse »

Cobalt Tech Support kindly provided this - I'm sure if your boat is from a different year, they should be able to accommodate you upon similar request.

Since you also have a 232 @kas232ca perhaps you'll find these useful - here are some drawings I've extracted from that document and amended with the dimensions from the table, plus a custom one I created from combination of the factory dimensions and some empirical measurements. There is not as much information on that drawing that I would have hoped (angles and height relationships)

Couple of things that are a little confusing about the factory drawing - the strake at the bottom just off the keel, is NOT at the stern, but applies further forward (that is why it's not on my custom template). And the angle looks the same either side of the chine beam in the factory drawing, but it's not, as you can see in the real boat image above.

The angles were deduced by linear measurements - I am going to take my angle finder out there today to double check the angle off the keel.
I found the best point of reference for the heights was the axle since it is flat, whereas the cross beams are curved.

I'm going to be using this to set up an aluminum trailer - going to cut out a plywood template to set up the bunks - it should be pretty close (I hope!)

Thank you for this.

Over the last couple of days, I have been talking with Loadmaster about building me a new one. The thing holding me back from pulling the trigger is the shipping fee from Ohio to Arizona. About 4k...

Want to buy my aluminum Venture? It will need new bunks and bunk placements. I believe it is a 2018 model year and I have a spare and a spare hub + bearings.

If you'd asked me 10 days ago I might have been - I just bought a used Float-On
It needs the same re-work
Send me pics and your asking by PM

At $4K I would fly and rent a truck and drive it back!

p.s. I just measured the angle at the keel - it looks more like 144, which would make the '20' more like 18
But the angles are not super-critical as the brackets will swivel and I'm fairly confident about the linear measurements being close enough to make small adjustments as necessary
I'll re-do the template drawing with the appropriate changes though and some re-measurements - it's absolutely Baltic here today!! So not going outside if I can help it!

What prompted getting a different trailer? The Dorsey looked nice.

Just really basic program, paint.net (not the one that comes with windows). It works adequately for 2D drafting.
The biggest issue is you can't select and modify elements - you just need to use a manual eraser technique i.e. paint over it with white!
I used to have a full 3D CAD program but that is long gone.

Reason for Aluminum - I'm primarily in Salt - there is already a little rust on the Dorsey and want to avoid any further deterioration next season so it remains viable. I did try to rinse it off and spray Salt Away on it after each dunk this season, but what is present was there when I bought it.
Once I finish with the Aluminum rebuild and get it transferred over I'll see if anyone wants to make me an offer - I am NOT going to be hard to deal with at all!
