2020 R5 - Tower pre-wired?

Post by Tandjmei8 »

Can anyone confirm whether all towers are pre-wired for the R5’s around this age? I have the premium audio (JL speakers + stern speakers, no tower speakers).

Thanks!

I know they come pre-wired on the manual fold tower. Pop the four plastic covers where the speakers mount and you should see the wires. They drop down on both sides. You should be able to see the port set by opening the bench seat where the breakers are and looking up toward the mount.

I’ve got the same set up on my 2019 R5 surf and want to add 2 JL tower speakers to my setup. I saw the wires in there and there’s a quick connect for what looks like “light tower interior”. Any idea what connects to that quick connect?

Also, is it required to add an amp for the tower speakers? My current set up has 2 amps for the interior JL speakers but didn’t know if the added tower ones would need a separate amp.

Thanks guys!

My R5 has a small LED light on the tower that comes on when the interior lights come on. Does your boat have that?

Yes it does. Mine come on as well. Is the extra plug in case you want to attach more lights to it? The speakers I’m adding have lights in them so I’m assuming there’s a wire that will power those. Just didn’t know what the extra plug was for.
