If your R series won’t start

Post by 2018R7Surf »

Hello. I am on my 4th cobalt. Will be picking up r7 surf in a week. I have loved all of my cobalts and we are excited to take delivery soon.

I wanted to pass some feedback to you on our last boat which was an r5. Last year, on 2 occasions, our boat would not start. In both cases it was because the starboard bow built in bumper locker knocked out fuses in our fuse box. Cobalt should consider moving this box or putting a better cover on it. My r7 surf will have the same problem. Just a thought for you. I was able to identify the problem both times and was quickly on my way without a tow. If it happened to me twice, I know it happens to others,

Thank you. Jim k.

Crazy. I wish engineers or designers were boaters!

Interesting. Great share.
We use 12x35 fenders, and wouldn’t come close to fitting in that locker anyway.

Tusc your fenders are 12" wide? Do you have any trouble storing them? I use 8" and it seems like they are huge. With 4 more inches I don't know that they would fit anywhere. The bilge maybe..

That is great info. I was actually wondering about this myself after noticing the setup. Did you just replace the fuses? you had extra's on hand? I'm a engineering/electrical dummy BTW so consider holding back on the "hey dumbass" shaming

I just pulled out the manual and put them back where they were supposed to go. It was simple but I got lucky finding them all.

Oh yeah, they’re big, but they protect all.
They fit perfectly in the ski locker in the floor. We use three of them.
