Shipping

Post by Tuscany »

Ok, a senseless post but I'm getting a little excited here...
The boat is finished and has been released by Cobalt for shipping today. It could leave today, or wait for an undetermined amount of time until a shipper has a spot headed towards NY. No ones knows when it shows up. I pick up the trailer on Monday, and with a little luck, I'll have some pics to share before Father's Day.

Some of the unknown in my equation was Cobalt ships multiple boats on a trailer and needed to pool a full trailer headed towards my dealer.

Same for me. My boat was ready to ship May 17th but left Cobalt on the 21st. Then it arrived about 3 days later. It arrived with two other boats headed near here.

I doubt it, it was just released today. Hopfully, I'm wrong, and it got an early ticket to ride!

Well, in not a happy camper right now. Actually, I pissed to the absolute max with Cobalt.
My delivery looks to be pushed back to July.
When I ordered in February, factory release was supposed to be May. Then the actual build didn't start until then. Then it changed to June 9th. Now it's the 26th.

I get that stuff happens, but a phone call telling me that the boat won't make it until half of our season is over would be nice.
I have family from the mid west planning to spend the 4th with us... it won't shock me if Cobalt changes my delivery again.
I freaking hate broken promises.

I waiting to find that out now.
I called my dealer to give me a heads up on shipping, and their screen showed that it was still in production.
Right now, I don't trust their answers.

Just got a call back. Boat was completed today. They probably have to do quality control and test. They hope to ship on the 26th. God knows if I'm first or last to drop. Then ofcourse there is dealer set up.
What a kick in the sack with a pointy boot.
I guess it is what it is...

Tusc where do you live? Why don't you just go get that sucker?. Make a road trip out of it and make the dealer adjust on your end.

Thanks.
Yeah, it crossed my mind.
I live near Buffalo. 2100 mile trip. Yuck...

I want it protected from America's highway debris, transported on a solid deck, and I don't want to be responsible if something happens to the boat on a boat trailer that rides a couple feet above the highway.
I'm hoping for the best, and hope to see it before the 4th.. :x

Also, I guess Cobalt is 800 boats ahead of last years numbers. I find that hard to believe, but possible I guess. So much for America's stagnant economy...
My dealer also told me that Cobalt has cancelled all dealer stock builds until the orders like mine are filled.
Good for the company!

Still doesn't explain why I got pushed back so far. My order was in relatively early.

I'm sorry to hear that. Our summer isn't long enough to wait that long.
I'd mention to your dealer that the delay is impacting family plans. Have them give you a loaner for the 4th if it isn't there yet.
Or even for this weekend... just a thought.
