Kill switch

Post by hoghead54 »

Maybe not the right place for this but.....on my '84 19BR there doesn't seem,to be a kill switch/teather. Was there one in that year or am I missing something? Do I need to put something in or just leave it alone?

Nola mention those years weren’t equipped yet. Good and bad as it’s one let thing to fail.

Inquiring minds want to know:
  1. Does anyone here actually clip the kill switch lanyard on when they get into the drivers seat
  2. Has anyone ever fallen out of the boat and needed the kill switch to work?
  3. If the answer to #2 is "yes I have" are you actually going to admit it in this group?
  4. And Finally is everyone super impressed /w my posting skills? I mean this list format is pretty cool right?

I was wondering about #1.....you always see the teather hanging there in people's boating pictures.

The tether on Katie's 190 actually dry rotted and broke in half. If I ever get to drive the 222 again I will throw on my orange life vest pictured below clip on the kill switch and send a picture. You know safety first.

FWIW, the 1990 owner's manual is the first that mentions the lanyard (ignition safety switch). It also had a lighter.
