Hello from Toronto
Re: Hello from Toronto
16. Couple of gas struts need to be replaced. Anyone have insight on the OEM or an equivalent product? Not sure I want to ask the local dealer how much four or five new struts will cost...

Re: Hello from Toronto
Nice write up Colin. Not sure if I'll get all of your issues but I'll hit a few.
1- your had struts all have numbers on them. Just Google the numbers on them and you will get some places to buy them from. I've gotten a bunch off eBay. Easy and cheap and all work great.need help let me know.
2- spare tire I would just get a nice vinyl cover I wouldn't waste money on sunbrella. I was going to put a Cobalt decal on my cover to dress it up.
3- do you have a local sign ship to make your decals. I use fastsigns. I got some off eBay but they are cheap for a reason.
4- led lights on the trailer a must looks good. I agree tighten down everything and up date the decals good call.
5- update stereo yep good call with speakers, love my wetsounds but I like treble so I love the tweeters. With led in them is cool. I got a great deal on them though. Revo6 set.
6- cup holders worth every penny.
7- rivots and stainless cables. Yea they suck I've yet to get a boat where these are in good shape. Plenty of drilling out rivets and replacing them with stainless ones. Be careful the drill bit can skip and the rivet gun can skip causing damage you don't want. You can buy the clips and cables on line I think from greatlakeskipper.com
8-woodgrain just try to clean and polish or wax it. Helped on a few of my other boats.
9-westland cover great cover to install on dry land but on the water I agree pita I cut floaties to fit over the hooks and ratchet. Yes bow and cockpit cover much easier and faster but not completely dry. I love mine.
10- I like all the names.
11- replace the carpet great move.
12-seadek love mine. Yt has a great connection for that.

Re: Hello from Toronto
To remove the rivet I use a center punch to punch out the center if the rivet. Then ran a drill through.ColinC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 5:41 pm 12. Wires on the bimini ring-pins need to be replaced. Seems like this is the only non-stainless metal on the boat and the wires have rusted quite badly. The wire will be easy to replace, but not sure what to do about the attachment at the rivets. Has anyone else done this fix?
After removing 2 rivets the end cap can be removed and medal shavings and bits can be removed from the inside of the pole. After you clean out stuff put end cap back on. I crimped ss lugs to new cable and used ss rivet. With the other end of cable I made a loop and crimped.

Liquid, sorry missed your question. It has a USB imput & single plug imput that works for the MP3 player. Don't think it has any output jacks.

For any easy conversion of an older radio to Bluetooth check out a $15 device on amazon called an MPOW. Plugs into front aux jack and pairs to hourly phone. So from captains chair u can control vol and music with your phone

Thanks for the insight gents! Particularly the detail on how to repair / replace the rusty wires on the bimini. May go with the MPOW bluetooth solution too.
Here's a pic with the red bimini opened up. Will try to get more / better shots this weekend.

Re: Hello from Toronto
That is a pretty boat! I have a yellow boot stripe. Not sure a yellow bimini would look as good as your red one. I don't think mine was ever used.
Still looks brand new.
Where in Toronto do you live? I have good friends who live in Oakville and your pic looks very familiar to the river/creek they live on (Sixteen Mile Creek). Same sort of slope from their house down to their lower yard and dock. Was just there at the end of June. Lot's of flooding still at the marina. Their lower yard was underwater for awhile. Old timers say it hasn't flooded like that in 60 years.

Re: Hello from Toronto
Hi Dan,
Thanks for the compliment. Love your 220 too -- navy and yellow is a great combo.
Home is just north of the city in Richmond Hill. Your friends in Oakville are to the west side of the city. Great suburb and nice to be on the water at Sixteen Mile Creek. Yes, the water levels are high this year. Too much damn rain. Seems like we can't go 48 hours without rain and dark skies this summer.
My boat is parked on Lake Muskoka, which is part of a large three lake system that is about two hours to the north. Fantastic freshwater boating, but the season is short -- mid-May to mid-October.

Re: Hello from Toronto
the MP3 player spot is the Headphone jack, or AUX. I just plug in my phone and rip Pandora or Spotify all day. Head unit doesn't mean too much to me at this point as it's just a conduit at this point. Getting the Iphone7 complicated things as it comes with that adapter. You'd be surprised how pissed your wife gets when you ask - "have you seen my Dongle?' for the 100th time.Alaskabound wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2017 12:11 am Liquid, sorry missed your question. I don't think it's called a dongle but I like calling it that and everyone knows what I mean when I do.

Re: Hello from Toronto
Now this is cool. Might check it out. Doesn't really matter with my setup as my phone holder is right underneath the head unit but it would limit me fidgeting with my dongle all the time. See above.
