CS22 must have options

Post by mojipa91 »

Hello all,
First time new user question:
I'm buying a new cs 22 and was wondering what options are most important to consider.
1. Dual prop?
2. Sea grass carpet?
3. Led lighting interior and underwater
If I missed something, please feel free to advise

P.s I'm upgrading from a 2004 Boston Whaler Montauk 170
Thanks!

Hey M91. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Yes to all of the above.
What size engine are you considering?

You can always cut costs by adding smaller options down the road yourself but items like engine size, arch, and extended swim platform may want to be added now at the factory.

Others will chime in shortly.

Again welcome aboard mate!

We have a '21 CS22 and ordered the transom and underwater lights. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look. Basically opted for anything that goes through the hull to come from the factory. The interior LED's looked aftermarket to me, and we know that sort of thing, and stereo upgrades can be done easily by independent installers or our dealer. I wasn't about arches when we started the order, and the cost is ridiculous, but it really is a cool look when you're on the boat. Agree with the seagrass. Carpet and water don't make sense to me.

We also opted for the built in chart/nav screen. The electronics all age out, but with the hole set up in the dash I think it will be easier to upgrade in the future without clamping random boxes to the dash.

I have the tower and I love how much height and shade it provides with the bimini deployed. Two options I could take or leave are the fender clips and interior rgb lighting. Most times people (wife especially) asks me to turn it off.

Two options I would like are transom speakers (we already have the premium sound system) and transom mounted trim/trailer switch. If you don't trailer a lot, the second won't matter as much.

Put the Garmin in the dash and trim switch on the stern.
Biggest engine and drive that is reasonable for you.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies. I got an estimate for the dual prop option but was a little surprised at the cost. Not sure if I need a different lower unit that was quoted but I thought I'd share the bid for advice.

First of all, welcome to Cobalt Chat.
Lots of good people, help, and ideas here...plus some entertainment.

My opinion based on my pocketbook.
Duel prop: for sure
Sea Grass: a must
Sound upgrade with transom speakers: yes for me.
Arch w/ bimini: yes. Arch should be wired for future speakers if wanted.
Minimum 280 hp: yes
Interior RGB lighting: we seldom use, but it's cool when we do. Don't know if I'd order it but we bought off showroom floor.
Under water lighting: Not worth the cost because we're not out much at night. Check this site for a way to wire a light through your drain plug.
Docking lights: helpful but not necessary.

I have an older 220.
I wish that I had a dash mounted GPS/depthfinder, seagrass carpet substitute would be nicer.
Not sure if you can order big HP without the duoprop. Mine gives great holeshot, fast planing, pretty low planing speed as well. It's a rocket in reverse, not sure I care for that, but learning how to manage it after years driving an outboard boat.
Stereo is something we upgraded, not sure a factory upgrade is worth the cost.
I've wished for the transom outdrive trim switch also.
You must have the swim platform. Those new ones that swing down look very cool and I'm sure I'd love one.

Other than covers, top, and what not, our must have from factory added options:

aft walk-thru filler cushion
transom tilt switch
rudder indicator (we have a VP so this is not very expensive)
SOF-TRAC for swim deck (wife keeps seeing how much everyone of Cobalt FB likes theirs)
battery switch w/ACR dual

We think everything else we might need I can add later. I already ordered a JL 10" sub.
