I was going to go with the K&N . I don't know if mercury puts the intake air sensor on the back of the spark arrestor. Volvo does so the K&N wouldn't work.cmattj wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 9:42 amI know we chatted or whistled about thisBig Block Power wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 9:20 am Update on this. The whistle is gone with this Cobalt deflector! Still have some engine noise but who doesn't want to hear their engine:-) The engine lid doesn't touch the rubber seal just a bad design.
My K&N flame arresters did take the whistle away 90 percent from the Iac..maybe redirect air flow as opposed to a mesh screen??
But it pushed on on the merc 496ho cover and I didn't want to trim it. So off they came.
No performance gain btw.
Wonder if they'll work on Volvo.. I slightly get it with the 282 but it is very sound deadened.
Depends on the engine cover and sealing like you said.
