Logging in.

Post by Big Block Power »

So why everytime I switch IP addresses I have to log in. The Other forum I'm on I never have to log back in unless I clear my cache or history. I can switch from my wifi at home to my 4g and I'll have to log back in. Thanks ahead of time. BBP, 😀

My log in lasts after about 20 minutes after inactivity and I have to log back in. It’s always been that way for me.
I try to not take it personally. 😂.

I have to all the time as well. I just saved my password in safari so I don’t have to type it each time.

Thanks Cho. Now that you said 20 minutes mine might be that also. Yes my password is saved is just you have to click to see if there is new threads then I'd says your not logged in then scroll to the bottom log in scroll back to the top. So much work for my little short fingers.

BBP, I've mentioned to the app developers that the login cookies don't seem to be handled well in iOS in particular, and they're looking into it. I unfortunately don't have the skills to fix it myself, but I see much the same thing - my PC stays logged in forever but my mobile devices continuously require logging in for each new session. Like most others I've saved my login so do it with one click. Still, I want it fixed as much as you do.

Just a follow up on logging in. I have to log in at least every morning and maybe 1 other time during the day. Just letting you know. I'm not sure why the site can't remember who BBP is!

I think this is a function of the browser you are using... mine is chrome, on linux,
and unless I logged out on the previous session (vs just closing the browser), I always
come up logged in. Can even be different under different versions of the same browser.

I use android with Chrome. Been using this only for 4 years. The other forum I'm on never needs to be logged back in. This site was good for awhile then boom. Then it gets better but not completely.

I think iOS in particular has a problem caching the site cookies. I've reached out to the forum developers and submitted bug reports to Apple, with only mild interest back in fixing it. I'm not really a coder, or I'd be looking hard at how PHPBB stores cookies myself to see if I could see anything wonky. I'll keep on it, but there's only so much I can do...
