What I didn't realize until today was the side graphics is just a decal. Can't believe they did but gel coat them?

I don't mind the decal - graphics on an intricate scale like that can be difficult to gel coat. I do like that the side stripe, hull color, etc. are gel coat and very durable over time, but I could even see not liking the graphics as well in 10 years and pulling them off in a refurb.

I was just surprised. I might try them on my boat just to change up the look and make it more current.

are you sure about this? I just read an article (2014) stating they were molded into the gel coat.

Also this is on the flier for the WSS series - "Graphics deep and strong in the gelcoat"

I recommend 2 of them just to keep it balanced.

Yes, it's definitely a decal. The R3 I just purchased has that exact scheme (even the same colors). Doesn't bother me too much, but I actually prefer the clean lines of the non WSS models. Plus, with the graphics, you don't have the classy looking Cobalt logo on the sides of the boat.

Well then i guess the graphics molded in are just the other lines. Idk....im with BB....it should be molded in. For top of the line bowriders its a bit surprising. I guess ill see how it holds up

Yea it really surprised me that they were not gel coated like a boot stripe. I expect that on a regal or sea Ray not a cobalt. There must be a reason. So Nauti add that to your list to ask them when you go to the tour. Thanks bbp

You got it! I'll request a meeting with the big man and let him know how unhappy you are with this matter!

Fine detail graphics like that would be hard to do in gelcoat. Maybe add some stainless steel "wings" on the side in place of the decals? Come to think of it, my boat doesn't have a hood ornament (yet) either...
