So what you're advising is that I send the crazies a document dump. Buried under "100 sheets of blank paper," they'll never discover the truth. That's brilliant! Thank you.
Oh, wait.

Re: Your career as it relates to the general public
The short version is that there's no such thing as a patent application form, the application itself is a document we draft essentially from scratch each time. Because you file it with a government entity, there are of course several forms that you do file with it, such as an application data sheet, but none of the forms are considered the application itself.
So, someone just wanting the form to draft the application himself would essentially be starting with blank sheets of paper.
There's plenty of opportunity to bury someone in paper too, given even the simplest patent application results in what the USPTO calls am Image File Wrapper (IFW) of documents that are part of the process that ends up being many hundreds of pages long.

John, I think Kate's point isnt all the mumbo jumbo legal jargon. I think she just wants to bury someone. Maybe in the dump? At any rate, hundreds of documents taking a dump on any of us here would warrant a deeper investigation and closer look. I think I can save us all the trouble.
Kate is.. umm .. Me! Howzatt for conspiracy theories!
There Kate. Now your secret is safe. I just took the fall for you! Am I out of the penalty box now?

Re: Your career as it relates to the general public
This story reminds me of my 28 years of working in a casino. No matter how good it is under a conservative administration, I hear nothing but bitching. No matter how bad it is during liberal administration, I hear silence. No one is complaining about Korea shooting off missiles, the invasion of Crimea or the Ukraine, what our allies think of us being weak, Haliburton's contracts, the cost of gas, the cost of food, inflation, shortages, supply chain, the end of the constitution, the threats to democracy, etc. Plus, I'm amazed of how many people without jobs spend so much time gambling large sums of money.sailor55330 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 2:40 pm
So, the home office of my company is in a very liberal geography and I continually hear the bashings of our current government and how terrible things are for them and that it's the worst time ever in this country's history. Keep in mind these are people that are well educated and compensated and professional about most things. They continued to bash the current administration extra hard during one breakfast session for about 20 mins, citing media story after media story--I just listened. They asked my opinion and I said, personally, I think there are a lot of policies that are being proposed/implemented that are good for the country, but sometimes the delivery is lacking. I was told how wrong I was and that I didn't understand, blah, blah, blah.....How could I be so blind and ignorant to the truth. My response to them was, "I'll make you a deal...if you can tell me how YOU personally are worse off because of our current administration, I'll be happy to sit here and take all the bashing you can dish out". I got several generic responses that cited basic headlines and generalities as shared by the news, but when I pressed them for their personal experiences of how they are personally worse now than 3 years ago, not one single person could give an example of my request.
Back on subject of dealing with the public. We had a guy that used to come in and gamble and play really large sums of money. He would berate the dealers, threaten them, and no one liked dealing to him. I thought of it as just part of the job. One day I was dealing blackjack to him, he was playing $10k on two hands. I had a bust card up so he split hands and doubled down. I drew out 20. He cussed me for several minutes about taking $80k from him. I just stopped dealing until he stopped talking. I calmly stated that I worked 2,000 hours a year, my wife worked 2,000 hours a year, and we didn't bring home $80k a year (in the 90's), and you want me to feel sorry for you? From that point on, the guy went out of his way to be nice to me.

Great story K. Yes, it's all perspective. Btw, a net worth of just $93k+ is enough to put you in the top 10% of the World's wealth. It's probably slightly higher now with inflation but it also puts things into perspective.

Re: Your career as it relates to the general public
A lot of people in the casino business are married to someone in the casino business. Customers sometimes assume that, and I used to tell the story of how I met my wife. The first night she ever played Blackjack, I was her dealer. I took all of her money, and she devised a plan to get it back. She married me.
28 years later, I tell a different story. I'm so smart that I married a younger woman, put her through college, and got her a high paying job. Now she's the main breadwinner. Admirals should make more than captains.
Both stories are based on truth but highly exaggerated.
