BRP/Evinrude

Post by Big Block Power »

Well hard to believe a Outboard company couldn't Make it but it's done. Now to see what BRP comes up with on the own.

As I read through this one a bit more. BRP is going to be putting Mercs on there boats. They closed plants in Wisconsin and other states as well.

How is the outboard market suffering? Outboards are all the rage these days. Sad to hear as I grew up running JohnnyRudes and they were always great engines.

Yes exactly akro. As BRP is working on something. We will hear it very soon. It just sticks for the people at the factory in Wisconsin and the other states. They have been working on the BRP brand for quite some time.

Late to post, but thought I'd add this. I know 2 people who have the 300hp Etec engines and both have had nothing but problems with them. One has been in contact with Evinrude over 10 times in the first year. They even sent a factory technician to his boat twice because the dealer could not make it work....runs rough, misses, hard to start sometimes. They've replaced about every electronic part on it. Second is a new boat owner this year and he's already having the same issues. The Etec doesn't seem to have been a winner. Good on paper, poor on the water.

I was turned off by Evinrude back in the mid 70's I had a 115 2 stroke that gave me nothing but problems. A few friends had them too and they had problems. I swore I'd never own another one. The Japanese took outboards to a whole new level. Now that Evinrude is gone I don't think any other company builds a bad outboard except for the Yamaha 350.
