Snaps for Cover

Looking for advise regarding the snaps into fiberglass, appears they are pop-riveted

Has anyone replaced riveted snaps? did you go back with rivets or screws?

For my cover, I have a few that are worn, I like the idea of riveting, just wondering what length and how they grab, it's not like I have access underneath to put washer on.
