Has anyone ever tried applying polyurethane clear film products (e.g. 3M Pro Series, Xpel Ultimate) to the areas where the fenders rub against the hull? On vehicles they protect against rock chips, scratches etc., are only 8-8.5 mils thick, removable and usuallly have a 10 year warranty. I actually installed some on the front end of my SUV - cannot even tell it's there and has saved me from several rock "dings."

Just a thought (and a question).
Not that I’ve ever heard of. Interesting concept though. I wonder if you could see it on the big shiny flat side of a boat? I say do it and report back!

Going with the Maine Coast Marine fleece covers. It was between them and the Cape Marine Inc. fender made from recycled materials. I went with Maine because it is 100% Polartec Fleece and the label is on the top and not the side lol. All I need is that label rubbing on a dry hull and I have a scratch haha.
My fenders have been the 6.5”x23” or so 2 eye fenders. IMO those are too small. Going to the center hole 8” Big B by Taylor made complete with the plugs in the bottom to hide the ropes. The cobalt boat covers are not soft and DO scratch the boat. I am getting the boat paint corrected this week, cleaned and sealant added. Hopefully the new bumpers and covers keep me scratch free for a bit.
Purchased them and returned them very disappointed very thin and did not offer protection. We bought Taylor covers that were soft and offered much more protection.
Yes, the rubber/vinyl fenders alone can mark the hull - especially if they are dirty, it's like sandpaper rubbing on the hull. I never used the covers until I bought my black Cobalt - never noticed any marks on my white SeaRay. I bought these (
Mainly due to price, just figured I would give them a shot, so far very happy with them.
