fuel pump relay

Post by Amelie2 »

I have a 2003 240 with a 6.2 Mercruser. I am 99% sure the fuel pump relay is bad. I am not getting any power to the fuel pump. Could anybody
tell me where the relay is located.

Hey A2. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

I believe bigblockpower may have owned a 240 and could help with the location of that relay.

Any pics of your 240?

Again welcome aboard mate!

Nope only 220. Lockey did though.
I've only had 1 Merc 496 also but that was for about a week. So if it's like a volvo there are fuses and relays on top of the engine in a fiat box. It's in there and just switch it with another one to see if that's your issue. What are you hearing when you turn on the key? Do you hear a 2 second hum noise then it stop?

Sorry for the error my friend. You’ll always have a place at the big boy table with the yacht certified crowd. ;)

I have a 2006 282 with twin 6.2s
had a problem with the relay also it was not getting the same voltage as the battery
took relay to ORILEYS auto store and they had one
the relay is located under the top cover of the motor Not shure which one,you can hear and feel it trying to pickup when key is on

Once you get this figured out, consider buying some Mercruiser Service manuals for the future. I just bought some for my 2017. You can get them very inexpensively on eBay. Just have to get the correct manual for your serial number. Mercruiser website will list the part number of the manual after you enter your serial number.
