Hello from Calif

Post by mluters »

I picked up my first Cobalt about 6 months ago...2011 262 WSS 8.1 HO 420HP with 39 hours. Love the Cobalt ride and quality and can't wait to get back on the water next month. I will be using it at Lake Mohave and Lake Mead. Also visit Lake Powell every year in July.

This thing is sweet. How do you like the 420? Heard the lakes out there are pretty low right now how's boating been?

I really like the 8.1L 496 HO...great hole shot and very responsive mid range for a boat this size. It really pulls this boat around without much trouble...I've had 11 adults on board and it still gets up and goes

I visit Lake Mohave the most and because it's one of the smaller lakes along the Colorado river chain it stays between 95%-100% full all the time. Lake Mead and Lake Powell are having a lot more trouble...I visit Powell every year for a week in July and even though it's down quite a bit, it's still very usable. Lake Mead looks the lowest and they have closed marina's due to the low water levels...so I haven't been there in quite a few years.

Here is a youtube video of our last year's trip to Lake Powell:

Anyone who is into boating needs to make at least one trip to Lake Powell because the scenery is unbelievable.

Ha! Me too.

Boat is nasty and the backdrop is crazy - looks like your boating on Mars.

Nice photos! What makes the stars pop in the last one? Are they drawn in, or is it a composite?

None of those shots are touched up or enhanced...I really don't like to spend time editing my photos so if they're not good right out of the camera, I usually delete them. The last shot is approximately a 30 sec exposure late at night with a full moon providing the light..my night shots are usually done with a full frame Canon 5DIII and I like to use a fast lens wide open at 100 ISO. I also experiment and try lots of different settings at night in order to get the look I'm after.

Not sure my phone had those settings? Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. Sold my old Canon Eos years ago with all different lenses.

Looks like an HDR shot.

I'm more concerned about the space base in the second pic - What the hell is that thing?!?

aaah - never mind. Just read about the time and ISO. 5DIII is a nice setup.

It's not very obvious it's night time in the photo with the stars. Pretty cool effect.
