Anyone use snubbers?

Post by Bratcho »

I am docking on a new lake this summer. Pretty strong chop. Many of the boats tied up near me use snubbers. I’ve never used them before -Are they worth trying? Many thanks for your advice.

If others are using then yes. Takes some of the tension off you lines. Might be cheap insurance

Can you install whips on the dock? those seem to work the best, besides a lift

I've not seen snubbers used on boats our size, but yes, they do work to take some of the shock off the lines in rougher waters--keep in mind they also allow more play in the mooring lines when docked, so adjust accordingly. I know nothing about whips--only seen them in pictures on line and they don't impress me based only on that.

Not sure how free your boat is to move in the slip...those pilings might need more than a cap on them to protect your boat.
Consider a fender board if you think you might need some extra protection on that side.

Thanks guys. Fender board by pilings makes sense. I’ve never used snubbers before but I think I’ll give them a try and see how rough the chop gets. I appreciate the comments..

If you end up trying the snubbers, let us know what you think of them and if you like them or not, thanks!
