Anyone else waiting for their 2021 R?

Post by carrera »

My R6 Surf was supposed to be delivered in late March, early April. But with supply chain shortages (resin, latches, windshields) it is now looking like mid-July at best. During the term of my order, I have received two different "sorry for the delay" messages from the factory (forwarded to me by the dealer). Anyone else in the same spot?

Yes, I am a patient customer. I have a long-time relationship with Cobalt, so not complaining. :)

Yes I don't think anyone can complain. I'm sure they everything they can to get them built. They are just served this crap!

We have a meager CS on backorder too. No completion dates are given - just soon. Crazy times. I just wish they would date it a 22 because we have missed over half our season so far

I have a R3 on order since late March with an original delivery date of early June. Last update I received from my dealer was mid-July. Hoping it doesn’t slip much further as summers are short in the upper Midwest!

I have an R8 surf on order that was suppose to be here in April and best I know they started the build last week but as others have mentioned they won’t confirm dates. I put in the order in December. I’m guessing will show up first few weeks of August.

R 6 surf ordered in January. Originally scheduled before Memorial Day, then 3rd week in June. Now, 3rd week in July. Frustrating as hell, but, I do understand as I see these issues with a lot of the businesses we deal with.

It seems at every turn I’m running into sourcing issues. I ordered a new Polaris General last month; I have no idea when it will be delivered … Oct? Nov? A lightning strike fried my AV receiver and TV; while TVs are a little easier to come by, quality AV receivers? Not so much. I’m in the construction business, and issues are rampant with lumber, PVC, appliances, controls, and on and on. The issue is not solely in the manufacturing and raw materials. The logistics of getting things delivered when and where they’re needed is a nightmare. Bottom line, if it has a computer chip in it, it’s going to be a problem. I would not blame Cobalt for the delay. There are numerous factors causing these issue. It’s in Cobalt’s best interest to deliver the boat ASAP so they can recognize the revenue.

Yep. It's just the way it is. I sell critical care cardiac monitors and networking to hospitals and surgery centers. Depending on the complexity of the orders, products used to be delivered anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks. Since Covid it is now 10 to 25 weeks. The slowdown remains raw materials and global supply chain. Sometimes we are waiting on plastics and chips to build the products. Other times it's as simple as as a lack of shipping containers to move the finished product.
